Job Summary

The SEO Specialist/Analyst (REMOTE-US) manages high-quality content development process and technical SEO prowess. They also manage the overall SEO program direction for their accounts to support consumer journeys and amplify our clients' voices across search engine channels. The ideal candidate should produce and manage engaging content to support multiple brands and industries, develop website SEO and off site SEO initiatives and possess a solid understanding of SEO fundamentals, digital content and distribution. The SEO Specialist/Analyst works closely with the SEO Manager and sales teams to create and distribute content on behalf of CMG's clients.

Effective October 1, 2021, all newly hired CMG employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their start date. CMG will provide reasonable accommodations as required by law for individuals unable to be vaccinated due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.

Core responsibilities include the following:

  • Implementing various elements of a client's content marketing strategy
  • Optimizing current copy on a client's website (page titles, meta descriptions, h1s, alts, anchor text, etc.)
  • Writing new SEO-friendly copy for pages on a client's website
  • Blog writing and posting
  • Participating in client calls during campaign kick-off and as necessary thereafter
  • Researching trending topics within a variety of industries
  • Maintain editorial calendars from start to finish for multiple clients
  • Edit content in the form of webpages, blog content, industry articles and more
  • Manage SEO projects
  • Perform keyword research and competitive analyses
  • Consult with clients to address business goals, expectations, and content deliverables
  • Write or revise onsite content for search engine optimization purposes
  • Write title tags and meta descriptions
  • Understand voice search, and content tactics for distribution in those channels
  • Work with freelancers to create, edit, distribute, and promote content pieces to increase organic search visibility
  • Review content effectiveness regularly via Google Analytics to set improvement goals, execute new best practice techniques and trends and track high-value content
  • Develop monthly action items for onsite technical SEO fixes.
  • Understands Google/Bing algorithmic impact and knows how to manage SEO vertical improvements
  • Develops schema tag solutions, onsite html tagging and third-party tag solutions
  • Understands and can develop GMB profiles and brand centric SEO solutions
  • Has worked with back link profile analysis, developing a new backlink management program and understand cross linking methodologies.

What We Look For

  • SEO Specialist must have demonstrated writing experience, professional and/or academic.
  • They have experience writing for a web-based audience as well as a working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization best practices and how they apply to content marketing.
  • They must have a solid understanding of SEO best practices for both content and technical verticals.
  • Must be able to demonstrate implementation of actionable technical SEO initiatives and understanding of long term impact of efforts.
  • Fluency in content marketing tools, SEO platforms, and CMS Strong understanding of SEO and industry best practices
  • Ability to work with technical teams on content best practices and SEO Track record with published content for both traditional and digital media
  • Creative, flexible, and work well in a fast-paced, results-driven, deadline focused environment
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure distribution of, and linking to, content
  • Understand and adapt to the target demographics of multiple brands
  • Ability to implement SEO strategies, with proven results to share
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effectively communicate with peers, advertisers and consumers
  • Ability to meet changing priority deadlines


Education: Bachelor’s degree Preferred
