Job Description
The power of prediction starts with Heartex. We build software that helps people do what only they can do – give meaning
Data fills our modern world. It flows prolifically inside organizations, customer interactions, through product usage, environmental research, healthcare imaging, and beyond. What if we could use any of that historical data to predict the future? The fact is, in most cases we can make predictions through Machine Learning and AI, but to do so in a meaningful and impactful way, historical data needs to be accurate, comprehensive, and absent of bias.
In order to make the best predictions, we believe internal teams with domain expertise should be responsible for annotating and curating data. It's called data labeling, and it’s a process of real people giving meaning to the information they see on the screen. Heartex was founded to take data labeling to the next level.
We believe that data labeling is a team sport. Data scientists, subject matter experts, engineers, operations, and annotators must work collaboratively to ensure quality results and an efficient process. That’s why we created Label Studio, which has quickly become the most popular open source data labeling platform with 1000,000 users around the world, alongside a community of thousands of data scientists sharing knowledge and working to advance data-centric AI.
We are excited to announce that Heartex has raised $25 million in Series A funding, bringing our total funds raised to $30 million from notable investment partners Redpoint Ventures, Unusual Ventures, Bow Capital, Swift Ventures, as well as angel investors.

From a big picture perspective, you must be able to have a deep understanding of our audience and the ability to connect on a personal level with them through brand marketing messaging. And, we’ll also want you to be able to craft more tactical, conversion-focused content that speaks to BetterUp’s value and the clear ROI for our business.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the creation of world-class brand creative concepts, messaging strategy, hierarchy and key language around our brand and platform story, while communicating compelling marketing creative that emotionally connects with our target audience, to increase awareness, engagement, and conversion
- Lead integrated marketing event and experiential messaging strategy, key messaging and copywriting for our priority events year round (C-suite email communications, event brand collateral, microsite copy, etc)
- Lead integrated marketing website messaging strategy from top to bottom of funnel, key messaging, and copywriting (homepages, platform pages, new B2B site pages) with the intent to increase organic traffic and conversions
- Partner with our brand strategy team, field and train tycoon, and PMM team on bringing our category and platform story to life through a clear narrative, infusing our messaging with storytelling to create more clear connection and understanding for our audience
- Additional work will include social enablement kits for employees and executives, social creative content for key moments and brand announcements, email marketing copy (top or bottom of funnel), social ads, etc.
- Work in an independent fashion, solve problems, make informed decisions, and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners in high-pace situations and while managing multiple projects
- Work with multiple cross-functional partners and leadership to steer work forward, balancing multiple inputs and translating these to powerful creative solutions
- Maintain, elevate, and evolve our brand tone of voice in partnership with our Associate Creative Director and brand strategy team. Ensure brand consistency throughout various marketing initiatives
If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
- Depth of experience in storytelling and copywriting across the full marketing funnel for brands. B2B experience is a must-have (you know how to talk to business leaders), tech company/product storytelling experience is ideal
- You have around 8-12 years of experience in-house or at creative agencies—this is not your first rodeo. You’re self-driven, know when to work autonomously and when to bring people in, and you’re able to move forward and make decisions in your work without all of the information. Because of this experience, you also have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workflow, and effectively meet deadlines in a virtual, fast-paced environment
- Experience working across brand, product, storytelling + conversion creative channels is a must: you’re equally comfortable crafting a big beautiful brand story as you are writing captivating email copy (including seriously catchy and engaging subject lines) that you know is going to convert audiences and speak to the product we’re selling clearly and succinctly
- Experience working on event/experiential creative would be a bonus (and so welcome)
- You have an incredible portfolio of brand, marketing, and copywriting work demonstrating strong strategic creative thinking, passion for narratives and the power of language, and clear messaging hierarchy across a variety of channels
- You have experience collaborating and influencing cross-functional teams as well as executive stakeholder management – and you know how to bring people along for the ride and collaborate
- You understand how important brand expression is, especially for a growing brand. You think every opportunity is one to elevate the creative expression, while still working within brand standards. And, you’re a stickler for details and take the time to triple-check work before it goes out — the little things matter to you as much as the big things (including clarity, succinct copy, spelling and grammar)

Writer at LumiQ
- Content Copy Writing
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
We’re LumiQ – an audio-first professional education platform for CPAs. We help CPAs get their continuing professional development (CPD) hours through engaging podcasts with business leaders (the CFOs of Slack, Shopify, Yelp, Yahoo!, TD Bank, and Wealthsimple just to name a few). CPD/CPE is the yearly required learning that CPAs generally dread doing. They’re tired of dealing with boring webinars, irrelevant content and product experiences that are out-of-date. That’s why they’ve flocked to LumiQ and our mission to make professional learning enjoyable.
With hundreds of companies signed up, we’re at the precipice of launching a global movement that’s going to massively change the professional education and podcasting industries. Following our recent Series A, we’ve expanded into the US market and are seeing wonderful early signs of traction.
Despite our lightning growth, we tend not to subscribe to the mantra of “move fast and break things.” Our goal is to build a profitable company, where our employees can learn and grow, and where customers see real value and genuinely enjoy using the product. We are building a company meant to last, and if this resonates with you, we hope you will consider joining us on our journey to transform professional education!
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Like any startup, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats, but the major focus of this role will be on creating copy for each episode, striking the right balance of clear language, and engaging writing with Canadian and US market requirements
- Writing copy and assessment quizzes for 9-12 episodes per week. This requires listening to a rough draft of a 45-60 minute episode and crafting titles and descriptions, well-thought-out learning objectives, glossary terms, review questions, and final assessment questions
- Supporting marketing with LinkedIn posts, engagement emails, and push notifications for episodes
- Depending on episodes in production, you may be called upon to help with researching and scripting. This can be anything from taking complex technical topics and updates and weaving them into a story, working with a producer to find archival tape and quotes, or fact-checking scripts developed with producers
Who You Are
- You have a background in finance, business, education, or journalism: You have experience communicating with and creating content for a sophisticated and financially literate audience.
- You are a strong writer, with a proven track record of writing about complex business/finance topics in a clear and concise manner: An ideal candidate can balance the creativity of the copy with the ability to distill complex topics simply while maintaining an educational lens. We will expect to see a portfolio of relevant work.
- You are passionate about education: Continuing education is stuck in the 1990s, and our mission is to make it convenient, practical, and even (dare we say) enjoyable! You are excited about being a part of disrupting that industry and are passionate about the potential of podcasts as an educational tool. You’re also someone who genuinely enjoys learning new things.
- You (ideally) have some experience in research and scriptwriting: As we produce more scripted content we will need this role to pitch in on scriptwriting, researching, and weaving technical accounting learnings into creative scripts.
- You are a critical thinker: You are especially good at zooming out, and asking “Does what I’m doing make sense?” (This is one of our values, so we will be sure to ask for examples!)
- You care about culture: You want to work somewhere that encourages and rewards pride and ownership of your work, thinking outside the box, and the ability to experiment and try new things.
If you think your experience is most of the way there we’d still love to meet you!
Please note this is a flexible hybrid role based out of Toronto, Canada. Employees will be expected to be able to commute to the office for some team and company-based activities.
Benefits and Perks
- Health Benefits after 3 months with us, including a yearly health spend account
- Access to an Employee Assistance Program if needed
- Monthly team social events (Super Smash Bro party, hot chocolate bar, Blue Jays game, Hot Ones Challenge are just a few examples of what we have done in the past)
- Schedule flexibility. We know our employees have lives outside of work and don’t mind if you need to run to a mid-day doctor's appointment or pick up a kid early from school!
- Nomad policy: Work remotely 4 weeks of the year from anywhere in the world
- Office space at one of Canada’s most well-regarded startup accelerators—OneEleven (Front and John Street) which includes ping pong and foosball tables, monthly learning events, and a great opportunity to grow your personal and professional network with dozens of other startup folks in the space
- The chance to work with the world-class investors behind us, including Jean Desgagne, former CEO of GES at the TMX, Joel Lessem, Founder & CEO of Firmex, Neil Wainright, Founder and CEO of Nexonia, and Dennis Bennie, one of the Founding members of the Creative Destruction Lab.
