About the Role

The Athletic is seeking a data-driven performance marketer to help scale our multi-channel paid acquisition initiatives. This role must deliver against bottom line business goals which include managing investment efficiency and net subscriber adds. In order to help you achieve your targets, you will have access to budgets for both testing and scaling. You’ll also have access to an internal team of data-driven performance marketers, designers, data scientists, and engineers.

Both analytical and imaginative, the ideal candidate must be able to easily understand performance data and derive actionable insights that will help optimize paid media strategies. We are looking for a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments and can roll up their sleeves to build, launch and manage campaigns across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end campaign execution and operations across Paid Social, Paid Search and experimental channels.
  • Test, evaluate and iterate on new and exiting strategies in order to scale our paid marketing operation to new heights.
  • Collaborate with the broader marketing org to develop and execute go to market strategies for key moments on the annual sports calendar.
  • Partner closely with technical teams (analytics/data science/eng) as well as our creative team (design), to develop in-house tools and creative assets.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of successfully managing and scaling a large paid acquisition budget for a growing B2C product/brand.
  • Proven expertise with at least one of the following paid media platforms: Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, Twitter Ads, Snap Ads TV, OTT.
  • Well-versed in performance marketing KPIs and measurement basics.
  • Highly analytical; you need to speak to decisions and learnings with data.
  • Ability to provide constructive creative input and feedback, driving long-term campaign performance.
  • A self-starting attitude, always on the lookout for opportunities to make an impact without needing to be asked.
  • Understanding of the subscription revenue model in the digital media space is a plus.
  • Advanced excel skills, SQL a plus.

The annual base salary range for this role is $85,000.00 - $106,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
