Job Description

GitHub is looking for someone who is passionate about SEO to work on our Web Experience marketing team. The SEO Specialist will focus on B2B marketing for our Enterprise products. We need someone who is skilled at managing SEO projects, such as content and technical fixes. In addition, this candidate will insert SEO priorities into content marketing efforts and help realize these through managing elements of digital assets like meta titles, tags, description and URL hierarchy. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Google on-site and off-site SEO ranking factors, whitehat link building best practices, creative ideas for internal and external link strategies, and SEO for YouTube and various video optimization tactics.

Responsibilities Include

  • As an SEO Specialist, you will work closely with our SEO strategists to ensure that GitHub is upholding the highest standards of SEO best practices.
  • You will work closely with content marketing teams to define keyword, meta tags, and structured data, recommend keyword placement and provide feedback during the drafting process.
  • Scalable on-site optimization of SEO elements, schema, internal and external linking strategies, and programmatic content, with a strong emphasis on a mobile-first user experience.
  • Develop SEO off page and on page strategies in collaboration with other stakeholders and ensure tactics are being executed properly.
  • Build links on targeted websites for promoted content.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain link building best practices.
  • Help coordinate internal SEO inquiries with our external SEO agency.
  • Help with technical audits on our website to identify on page optimization, technical issues, and content analysis resulting in performance reports.
  • Analyze competitor data to identify trends and opportunities to implement into our SEO strategy resulting in top search engine rankings among competitors.
  • Edit content, title tags, and meta descriptions both on page and for the blog utilizing SEO best practices.
  • Develop link building strategies to improve positions for targeted keywords.
  • Perform Off-page optimization

Required Skills

  • Firm knowledge and understanding of SEO best practices and foundations.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO key concepts: Keywords Analysis, Content clustering, Partnerships, Link building expertise
  • Up to date knowledge of link building best practices and strategies for optimized link acquisition.
  • Experience with Google Search Console Conductor
  • Experience with Ahrefs, Brightedge, Conductor, Moz SEMRush, and/or other SEO tools a plus

(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $49,000 to maximum $104,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

  • Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired in Colorado.

Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States or onsite in one of GitHub’s U.S. offices (San Francisco, Bellevue, Raleigh).
