We are looking for an SEO Lead to help us crush all aspects of our online presence related to search.

The SEO Lead leads the charge on our SEO strategy and collaborates across departments with Editorial, Engineering, and Product to elevate all facets of our digital footprint. You should be a proactive self-starter who can thoughtfully assess and analyze key areas of growth, then build the road map, and lead the team toward accomplishing those goals.

You will work with large datasets and must have a good technical SEO background. For this position, we are especially keen for candidates who desire to learn new technical skills like using Python or querying BigQuery. We have a culture of collaborative measurement and reporting, especially ROI, and hope you share our enthusiasm for understanding progress.

You’ll Report To: SVP, Engineering, Innovation & Growth

A typical day as an SEO Lead might include:

  • Lead SEO strategy, planning, execution, optimization, and measurement/reporting with an emphasis on long-term strategies and Local SEO.
  • Develop a new Python SEO tool; working with data scientists.
  • Identify cross-industry trends and best practices in SEO, SEM, and digital marketing.
  • Work with Product Managers on SEO & UX “best practices” to guide product plans including site redesigns, product enhancements, and new features.
  • Work with Content and Renovation teams to better inform content creation and programming.
  • Work with Engineering and QA teams to ensure technical SEO best practices are properly implemented.
  • Optimize sites for traditional mobile & desktop search, video search, and image search.
  • Perform ongoing keyword research, analysis, recommendations, and execution to optimize existing content and identify new opportunities.
  • Survey marketplace for similar approaches and tactics.

What you have:

  • 3-5 years of SEO experience as part of a prior job.
  • Extensive understanding of SEO principles including Local SEO, best practices, cross-industry trends.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workload and meet quotas without sacrificing quality.
  • High proficiency in SEO analytics, testing, and optimization including: Google/Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics.
  • Must enjoy manipulating large datasets.
  • Good understanding of technical aspects of SEO including: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, URL structures, keyword analysis, content optimization, search engine spiders, sitemaps, indexes and algorithms.
  • Experience with and sound understanding of social media networks (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) and impact on SEO performance.
  • ROI driven and metrics focused.
  • Familiarity with SEO tools/platforms like SEMrush or Clearscope.
  • Excellent written and communication skills as we work heavily on Zoom, Slack, and email.
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats – no job being too small or too large.
  • A willingness to learn and share your knowledge with the team

You will be successful in this role if you are a go-getter with a keen eye for detail and passion for elevating and optimizing all touchpoints related to search across our brand from concept to final product.

Process:

  • Step 2: A call with your potential manager or someone from the hiring team to dive deeper into your experiences and goals.
  • Step 3: A short assessment to help us see your skill sets as they relate to the role we have. We will review this in Step 1.
  • Step 4: Depending on the role, interviews with key stakeholders from the role (could be 1 or up to 3) who will dive further into the role with you and answer any questions you may have.
