Job Summary:
The Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the VP of Marketing and Growth and is responsible for our earned and owned channels — email, SMS, social media, web, and PR — and using them to grow the charity: water brand and better connect supporters to our work and their impact. You’ll work closely with the Brand and Content team to shape and execute key messaging, narratives, stories, and campaigns that serve both our Major donor and Consumer audience needs primarily in the US but also in the UK. ● Working with the Product team to create a world-class website experience with the right content, stories, and messaging that inspires and converts
● Developing lifecycle strategies and messaging that increases engagement with all charity: water supporters and encourages them to increase their impact
● Defining and tracking key performance indicators that measure engagement, brand awareness, perception, and success on our channels and overall for communications
● Working with our Supporter Experience team on key messaging and communications to respond to supporters and the public when questions and challenges arise

YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL IF...
You're a communication ace
You know that the secret to success is keeping people in the know. You not only know what to communicate but when, how, and why it’s important. You possess exceptional relational, oral, and written communication skills.

You have a team ethos
You thrive in a creative, inventive, fast-paced startup environment, with people who are passionate about their work and mission. You’re excited to work cross-functionally with other departments -- both internal and external -- to get the job done right.

You are a leader
You are skilled at accomplishing things through other people. You can run multiple work streams that extend far beyond your immediate team. You can provide leadership for peers, subordinates and partners.

You get things done
You’re a multitasking machine and you don’t have a problem getting your hands dirty. You follow through on every task, no matter how big or small, and when duty calls you take matters into your own hands. You live for hitting deadlines and understand the importance of keeping on schedule and in budget. You take initiative on projects from the start and know how to bring people together and get things done.

You love technology and value innovation
You’re always looking out for the newest tools and coolest gadgets — whether for personal or professional needs — you’re on top of the latest and greatest. You’re comfortable looking for solutions and opportunities outside of the box if they’ll increase the productivity and alignment of the team. You stay on top of the most current apps and programs, constantly looking for ways to use technology to increase efficiency and innovation for your projects.

You’re a systems thinker
You have an ability to apply conceptual strategy, brainstorm facilitation, and day-to-day directing of projects through completion. You find new and efficient ways to streamline processes and create innovative approaches to difficult problems. You love to identify people's strengths and build processes to make things run more smoothly. You have the skills and experience to help build scalable models that leverage charity: water's brand, assets, relationships and opportunities to meet aggressive growth goals.
