Our team is looking to add a react-native engineer to help build exceptional experiences for a community that expects nothing less.
This role will be critical in helping karat deliver, grow and maintain its most requested product: a mobile app. This is an exciting & unique opportunity to work on what is expected to be the foundations of our most engaged consumer facing platform.
Some of the things you'll do:
- Help make Karat’s first mobile app experience for our flagship card product!
- Work cross functionally with product, data, and design to drive new innovative mobile initiatives for creators.
- Influence your team members on best practices, tools and technology through tech talks and discussion.
- Build out the first mobile banking and payments experience made specifically for creators and their unique needs.
- Optimize & improve our QA, testing, build, and delivery pipelines as it relates to the mobile user experience.
What You'll Need:
- Technical Chops: Fluency in React Native, Typescript and Graphql. Comfortable dropping down to the native mobile components especially for iOS. Bonus if you have strong sql skills, the more individuals who can answer questions using our data the better!

About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineer to join our team in New York or Toronto and help us bring our platform to the next level so we can serve more guests and more restaurants. We are looking for someone who's quick on their feet as we are a lean team that likes to move fast and learn new things on the go. We are all about fast iteration, while maintaining the attention to detail that is essential to a user experience that keeps guests coming back.
In order to provide a seamless experience both to guests and to restaurant brands, our platform has to communicate with a broad and ever-growing array of external services. We have a modular plug-n-play architecture that makes it easy to add any new integration from Point of Sale systems, to loyalty platforms, to payments processors. We also have a completely customizable guest UI that can be deployed to every restaurant in seconds. And it's all built using Node.js and MongoDB. There is never a lack of interesting challenges in need of inventive solutions, and we’d love to have you experimenting alongside us.
Our ideal candidate has a strong sense of ownership coupled with a passion for building secure, high availability hybrid cloud infrastructure. A successful candidate will be able to take our infrastructure to the next level, scaling our existing systems for rapid growth across tens of thousands of clients.
What you will be responsible for:
- Supporting and developing secure automation solutions that enable our agile software teams to build and deploy code efficiently and consistently
- Building and supporting a CI/CD infrastructure GitHub, CircleCI, AWS, Heroku etc.
- Implementing monitoring processes & design/build/deploy monitoring dashboards for centralized logging
- Ensuring that applications have reliability and availability appropriate for customer needs
- Preparing and presenting design and implementation documentation to effectively communicate to a broad audience of peers, users, and other stakeholders
- Maintaining the stability and security of our production apps, websites and systems
- Identifying needs and resources for our infrastructure to grow at scale
- Designing and implementing the deployment of a hybrid cloud infrastructure to support client offline mode with an on-premise infrastructure
Your qualities:
- 4+ years experience in a DevOps role working on modern web applications and/or SaaS applications
- Significant AWS experience (ie utilizing services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route53, CodeBuild/Deploy/Pipeline, CloudWatch, Config, Systems Manager, IAM, CloudFormation)
- Microservice architecture deployment, Zuul and Eureka, infrastructure as code such as Terraform
- Docker, DockerHub and container orchestration with Kubernetes etc
- Experience with MongoDB, cross database synchronization and sharding
- Expertise with Linux + bash scripts
- Programming skills (NodeJS preferred)
- Experience working in a startup environment
