Job Description

About the project

LabXchange is a nonprofit science education project based at Harvard University funded by the Amgen Foundation.

Too many students lack access to high-quality science education and opportunities to meaningfully engage in the scientific process, whether due to economic or geographic limitations. Globally, this has led to significant gaps in diversity across scientific fields and in scientific literacy overall. We believe students everywhere should have equal opportunity to prepare for and succeed in science.

We aim to do this by making the best of digital science education available for free to teachers and students around the world through an advanced, flexible, and interactive learning platform. This involves going way beyond text, videos, and MCQs to virtual lab simulations, interactive animations, experimental design simulations, and a knowledge graph that can be remixed into customized learning pathways. Social features like private classes, discussion forums, and mentorship empower and connect learners with educators.

We are a diverse team of 100+ people spread globally, with clusters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Lahore, and Cape Town.

What’s the opportunity?

We are looking for an experienced product manager to lead a new product initiative, conduct market research to define opportunities, craft the strategy, and drive the product from basic concept to launch. In this role, you will:

  • Formulate the long-term product vision, strategy, direction, go-to-market plan, and success metrics.
  • Conduct user and market research to understand user needs and the market landscape, uncover areas of opportunity, and size them.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to plan, shape, and execute goals.
  • Drive product-market fit discovery through iterative value proposition development and validation.
  • Use a problem-solving mindset to dissect ambiguous user needs, experiment with solutions, and iterate toward optimal product outcomes.

  • Track record of getting quality products from 0 to 1
  • 5+ years of experience in a product role.
  • Self-driven and can take initiative and ownership.
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform product opportunities, prioritization, and track business goals.
  • Collaborate well cross-functionally — especially with design, engineering, and various functions and consultants.
  • Can clearly communicate product decisions and the rationale to team, stakeholders, and funders.
  • Can think strategically by balancing the big-picture goals of the organization, user, and funder with the moving parts of the team, product, and organization.
  • Have strong visioning skills and can tell a compelling story to executives and funders.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity.
