 About Solicitation 

The Syria Justice and Accountability Centre (SJAC) is a Syrian human rights non-profit organization working for meaningful justice and accountability for Syria that holds perpetrators accountable and addresses grievances, leading to lasting peace. 

Bayanat is an open-source data management solution for processing huge amounts of data relevant to human rights abuses and war crimes, developed and maintained by SJAC. SJAC, as well as several other NGOs, uses Bayanat to collect, analyze, and share documentation of human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity. 

SJAC is soliciting applications for a UI/UX Designer position. SJAC will evaluate applications based on best overall value and establish a framework consulting agreement for six months. The consulting agreement can be extended beyond this period based on satisfactory performance and funding availability for up to three years. 

Position Summary  

We are seeking a talented and creative UI/UX Designer to join our team. In this role, you will design and enhance user interfaces and experiences across our websites and Bayanat, focusing on creating visually appealing, user-centered designs that drive engagement and usability. 

Responsibilities: 

Design user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for web applications and websites. 

Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and understand project goals. 

Apply Material Design principles to ensure consistency and usability across web interfaces. 

Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and iterate designs. 

Ensure the responsiveness and accessibility of designs across multiple devices and screen sizes. 

Stay updated with the latest UI/UX trends and web design best practices. 

Attend team meetings. 

Qualifications: 

+5 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing web design and web application projects. 

Proficiency in design tools such as Figma. 

Strong visual design skills with attention to detail. 

Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS) is a plus. 

Excellent communication skills to present and explain design concepts. 

In-depth understanding of Material Design principles is a plus.
