Product Analyst at CyberOwl

  • Product
  • Fulltime
  • Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description

The Company

CyberOwl is a dynamic start-up that operates globally and primarily remotely with colleagues based in the UK, Greece, Singapore, Malaysia, Poland and Portugal.
CyberOwl helps maritime and CNI asset operators gain visibility, cybersecurity and compliance of systems on their distributed, remote assets. Our technologies provide near-real-time visibility of the onboard IT and OT assets and their communication patterns, raises early warning of cyber-attacks, suspicious behaviours and monitors for non-compliance. We complement this with a managed service and specific cybersecurity advisory services to further support the asset operator.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, gender, marriage/civil partnerships, pregnancy, maternity or age.

We offer a competitive base salary, flexible benefits plan, life assurance and pension contributions.

The Team

Our team is 40+ people strong and always growing. We’re expecting another significant growth phase imminently. We’re recognised as market innovators - we have a bias for action and our team pride themselves on their ability to plan, execute and iterate at a rapid pace. We value the ability to challenge each other, hold each other to account, develop each other personally and professionally and celebrate each other’s successes.
We are quite a diverse team – 13 nationalities, 15 languages, many more dialects - we are spread across 2 continents and 6 countries. We are a family friendly company and love to celebrate the arrival of little owls!

The Opportunity

Our product team is expanding and we’re looking for a Product Analyst/Product Ops Analyst to join us. You will be the facilitator that drives our requirements elaboration with the cross functional team, running discussions that will create well understood product requirements, and you’ll help us document these. You’ll also follow through into the sprint, QA and deployment process, helping share details of new features with internal teams.

We appreciate that this sort of “glue” role will have different job titles and vary elsewhere eg (technical project manager, product owner, scrum master, business analyst, agile business analyst, product analyst, systems analyst, product operations, product consultant) so please do apply if the role excites you and the duties overlap with existing experience.

Duties:

Take qualified product ideas and help expand them into user stories with the development team, coaching the team to remember feasibility and the customer goals.

Write up user & market research results for wider company consumption.

Help document our roadmap research in Harvestr.

Attend standups and be a “designated individual” to share user goals and context with the development team during the development and testing process.

Facilitate and run discussions between product, design and the development team to narrow down requirements.

Help QA understand stories so they can be tested with the external context considered (if you like to test yourself, this is also possible)

With help from the product team, facilitate the setting of sprint goals with the development team and the scrum master

Depending on your desired career path, there are a few options for this role as we expand and you gain experience:

There is a possibility for this role to also include some user research, working directly with our Product Designer, and moving into a more UX oriented role over time
You can move into Delivery Management or Product Management, or transfer out of the team to Customer Success or Engineering.

Things you will know how to do:

  • Knowledge of agile methodologies in a software requirements context eg user story mapping, INVEST
  • Some requirements analysis & documentation techniques eg soft systems modeling, stakeholder analysis, user story writing
  • Good writing skills
  • Experience of working with a development team directly in a collaborative environment (eg requirements are negotiable)

Things you might have:

  • Experience directly interacting with customers eg in a user research context
  • Experience working on technical products or software
  • Experience working with international teams
  • Experience working in an early stage startup

Your personal attributes

  • Can work remotely ie facilitate debate and collaboration in a fully remote team, with some teams in significantly different timezones
  • Flexible and knowledgeable on agile methodologies - we have multiple teams working in different ways, so if you strongly prefer a particular framework we can’t promise this here
  • Believes in gaining detailed shared understanding, not inventing extremely detailed specifications on their own
  • A completer finisher with good attention to detail
  • Able to pick up a technical customer domain

Our stack:
Harvestr, Jira, Miro, Figma, g-docs, amplitude, HubSpot, Slack
