UX Designer at Ethyca
- Design
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
Ethyca (https://ethyca.com) is a high-growth Series A remote startup on a mission to make Trust, Respect and Privacy a default feature of every tech stack. To accomplish this, we created the Fides open source language for data privacy (https://ethyca.com/fides/) and its related suite of free developer tools to enforce privacy policies as code, automate users’ right to access and erase their data, and much more. We believe software engineers are uniquely equipped to solve modern privacy challenges, but only if we work together on shared standards and best practice tools - come join our team and help make this a reality!
As Ethyca's inaugural UX designer, you’ll be responsible for designing our developer experiences from the initial mockups all the way through the front-end framework, and consulting on implementation. As a member of the product team, you’ll help to distill product requirements into low- or high-fidelity wireframes and facilitate a seamless transition to implementation with the engineering team. Your super power is understanding complex engineering concepts and translating them into a user experience for non-technical users across any enterprise vertical: lawyers, product managers, and business operations resources. This is not an entry-level role, as you will need to understand human-to-computer interaction for a new product that is unlike any that current exist today.
What you will do
- Champion UX best practices to ensure we’re all making informed design decisions together.
- Work with product and engineering team to craft achievable design solutions using your experience (or dribbble and codepen search skills!) that can be implemented quickly and will lead to immediate value for the user community.
- Build prototypes, wireframes and high-fidelity mockups using design tools like Invision, Figma and Sketch to workshop and develop on requirements.
- Build prototypes or bootstrap components using React or Angular to help convey an idea to other engineers and stakeholders.
- Analyze KPIs to identify underlying trends, develop hypotheses, test and evaluate new iterations of design systems and UX.
- Occasionally, work with the product team to perform UX research studies, help develop product roadmap, and soundboard product marketing ideas.
Who you are
- A former or current engineer, or just an engineer at-heart. You have at least 3 years of experience implementing front-end web technologies (oo js, react, angular etc) and against web standards including html5 and css3.
- A skilled designer and eager to learn. You have at least 4 years experience designing and building product experiences for end-users and have shipped design for a product used by a significant user base. You have a have a strong understanding of user-centered design and product thinking when making design decisions, and you back that understanding with compelling design solutions. You are able to quickly build up an understanding of all experiences and touch points that go into delivering value to our customers.
- An empathetic interaction designer. You craft high quality, end to end experiences. You build straightforward user flows, information architecture, and utilize the tenants of strong interaction design in your work. You leverage design systems for consistency and pay attention to the details of each screen. You work with engineers to ship experiences that are usable and aesthetically pleasing.
- Firm believer in user-centered design thinking. At Ethyca, our users are lawyers, business operations, and engineers; your being an engineer and bridging compliance/privacy needs with design for a diversity of user types is instrumental to the success of the product. You enjoy learning from customers and team members, and you’re comfortable participating in research regularly to test, clarify or validate assumptions. You know how to measure the results of your work and understand its downstream effects on users and compliance rqeuirements.
- A skilled written communicator. You are comfortable writing some in-product copy and light technical education materials. You believe in the power of succinct, efficient copy for the product as a part of the user experience. Your excellent communication style (verbally and written) to internal product, engineering and design teams should bring clarity and direction to conversations.
We are hiring US-based candidates for this remote role with a preference toward candidates in the NYC area as the role will require East coast working hours.
Benefits
- Competitive cash + equity compensation
- 100% medical and dental insurance coverage
- Flexible office hours & vacation policy
- Parental leave
- 401K
About Ethyca
We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We do not discriminate on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or any other protected characteristics.
Ethyca is a distributed team with headquarters in NYC and remote workers across the US. When it’s safe to meet again, you’ll have the opportunity to travel to NYC a few times a year for company events. We are currently unable to sponsor visas so require that you are authorized to work in the USA.
We’re an engineering company building a missing piece of the Internet’s infrastructure: the trust layer that empowers users and businesses to manage data respectfully. Every day, we’re solving challenges for customers and thinking about the future of human rights as society increasingly moves online. If this sounds intriguing and you’re excited to shape that future with us, we’d love to talk to you!

Job Description
For millions of teams working in dozens of industries, day-to-day business gets done on the phone. So why — despite the huge leaps we've taken in design and usability — does most business phone software still look, feel, and act like it was born in the 90s? OpenPhone is changing that.
We’re a new type of business phone with a mission to help people communicate better and be more productive.
We’re backed by Y Combinator and some of the best venture firms around including Tiger Global, Craft Ventures, Slow Ventures, and others. We take pride in providing an exceptional customer experience and a product people love, which is why we’re excited that our customers have rated us the #1 VoIP Provider on G2.
OpenPhone is the modern, sophisticated answer to the clunky, outdated phone systems that have been slowing down businesses for years. With thousands of happy customers and several rounds of funding in just five years, it's safe to say we're onto something big.
About the role
Design is incredibly important to us, and we consider it our competitive advantage. As a Product Designer on the team, you'll be at the forefront of driving our product forward and realizing our vision. Through beautiful and thoughtful design, and through elegant solutions to complex problems, you’ll make a big impact to the way businesses grow and communicate with their customers every day.
Some of the things you’ll do
Lead a broad range of design projects across our desktop and mobile apps, end-to-end from ideation to implementation.
Prototype and test out concepts and flows to help validate hypotheses and arrive at the best outcomes.
Sweat the details in everything you design with pixel perfection, leaving nothing up for ambiguity.
Collaborate with our Product and Research teams and other stakeholders to create beautiful and valuable product experiences that truly delight our customers and help them grow.
Self-identify areas of improvement and opportunities for delight in our product, leading your own design initiatives that can be shipped quickly.
Communicate features, UI details, and user flows to the Engineering team to ensure a smooth handover and pixel-perfect end results.
Help maintain, improve, and evolve our design system, component libraries, and product aesthetics.
Roll up your sleeves, get involved, collaborate, and help us deliver something truly extraordinary!
About you
You have 5+ years of professional product design experience designing for both desktop and mobile platforms, and a portfolio showing extremely strong fundamentals across UI design, user experience, and visual design.
You use Figma as your primary design tool, and have experience using Dev Mode to communicate designs and changes with engineers.
You have a strong opinion on what makes a great product, including aesthetics, UX patterns, and principles.
You understand the importance of keeping things simple, and ensuring nothing gets in the way of the customer experience.
You’re super passionate about what you do, have an incredible attention to detail, and are dedicated to delivering the highest quality in everything you create.
You can stay on top of current design trends and best practices, but also know when to venture off and break the mold.
You're a self-starter and exceptional communicator, able to thrive in a fast-paced, remote, and distributed working environment.
You can be scrappy and versatile when needed, able to wear many hats, and work outside of your comfort zone.
Bonus points if you have motion design skills or UX copywriting experience.
Compensation

POSTED Oct 24
Founding Full-Stack Designer at Unriddle
- Design
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
About the role
We’re looking for a full-stack designer to help us accelerate the pace of scientific discovery. We are not just looking for someone to churn out Figma screens. We’re looking for someone who we can lean on for all things visuals -- from the design of a sticker to the feeling of an animation in the product.
As a founding member of the team, you'll make a significant impact as we rapidly scale revenue from $1M to $10M and then $10M to $100M+.
In this role, you’ll:
- Lead end-to-end product design projects and work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation.
- Work directly with users and translate their needs into tangible user flows and actionable product decisions, directly impacting product direction.
- Create flows, prototypes and high-fidelity visuals for your features and improvements.
- Help evolve our brand and visuals and implement in Framer for marketing, company information, new launches and fun experiments.
You’re likely a good fit if you:
- You move fast, have a strong bias for impact and don’t shy away from stepping on toes.
- Live and breath pixels with excellent taste for well-crafted interaction design and UI details.
- Have worked in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (ideally another startup) and can drive things forward with relatively little oversight.
We’re based in San Francisco but have members of the team in Europe too. We offer premium healthcare (medical, dental, etc.), flexible working hours and office space with a beautiful view of the SF marina and Golden Gate bridge.
If interested, reach out with a couple of sentences about you, links to your previous work/portfolio (live products are best!) and what you want to do for us starting next week. This is super important - any application without this info will be ignored.
About the interview
First, we'll have an introductory call to learn more about what you're looking for, the role and whether it's a good fit.
Next, we usually do a follow-up call with someone else on the team or a quick take-home exercise.
Finally, we'll ask you to join us for a one week paid work trial. This helps us get to know more about you and closely reflects what you’d be doing day-to-day at Unriddle.
If the work trial goes well, we'll make you an offer! We don't always stick to this process, but it should give you a good idea of what to expect.
About Unriddle
Unriddle helps researchers make breakthrough discoveries faster. We are a single platform to find, understand and produce research papers.
In just one year, we’ve grown to $1M ARR and 1.5M users. We’re growing 20% month-over-month and our users include teams at Stanford, GSK and Johns Hopkins.
We use language models to surface and breakdown relevant information, suggest novel connections between papers and automate rote research tasks. This free’s up headspace for higher reasoning and insight - essentially expanding the researcher’s mental RAM and letting them load larger problems into memory.
We’re starting with software to read, write and find papers, but our ultimate goal is to build the researcher of the future: a human-AI hybrid that’s an order of magnitude more effective than any single researcher.

Are you a UI/UX professional with a passion for educating others? Do you want to collaborate with the best industry experts, such as Don Norman and Vitaly Friedman, as well as Design Leads at Netflix, LinkedIn, Meta, and Adobe? Would you like to plan course content in collaboration with your design heroes and then fly out and meet them in professional studios across the world? Do you also love editing and writing, so you can teach people about the power of great design?
What if you had the chance to help shape the very future of online design education? We've got news for you---this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.
IxDF is the global leader in online design education. That's because the world's leading experts create our educational content and because we're specialized in---and utterly dedicated to---design, and only design. As we enter our third decade, we have over 177,000 graduates, more than 40 courses, and thousands of free design resources.
We're proud to have assembled a remarkable team of professionals who uplift, motivate, and inspire each other to excel daily. But something's missing. And we think it could be you.
You'll become an essential part of our team, someone who is making a direct impact on not only the growth and reputation of our organization but also the whole world of education and beyond!
What You'll Be Doing
We're on the hunt for an exceptional individual who breathes life into the phrase "ideas are worthless without execution." Our organization is full of individuals who are committed to excellence, and we seek a like-minded enthusiast to join us.
This role is suited to select unique individuals; it's a calling for a true nerd of UI and UX Design.
Ahead of you is a highly rewarding and enriching career in which you'll make an impact as you:
- Take on the roles of Course Editor, Content Writer, Learning Experience Designer, UI/UX Curriculum Developer, and Subject Matter Expert.
- Create in-demand UI/UX courses and open-source content that empower designers around the world. Our courses always feature the world’s leading design experts. You’ll plan and edit the course content in collaboration with the best UI and UX designers such as Don Norman and Vitaly Friedman, as well as Design Leads at Netflix, LinkedIn, Meta, and Adobe. You’ll fly out to meet the experts and shoot the course content in professional studios. Throughout the course creation process, you’ll collaborate closely with your colleagues.
- Create and improve world-class educational materials on topics such as UI design, UX design, Human- Computer Interaction (HCI), Design Thinking, Psychology, etc.—in the form of highly engaging articles, courses, design templates, portfolio exercises, and much more.
- Help push the quality of our educational materials to new heights—surpassing even the very best in both industry and academia.
- Work closely with our other course editors, our video production team, social media team, and our founders to make the most inspiring and engaging educational content for our ever-growing catalog of courses.
- Inspire your colleagues to grow and become better communicators, educators, and writers using your advanced editorial skills, just as they’ll help you.
- You may even be able to use your design skills to create engaging visuals that communicate key learning takeaways.
- Support IxDF content writers, community managers, and social media team members to bring your UI/UX design subject matter expertise to all dimensions of our content, marketing, and communication.
If you want even more opportunities to show the world what you can do, you're in luck! When you're willing to do the hard work of learning and growing, you'll find virtually limitless opportunities with us.
About You
- You’re a passionate designer, educator, and communicator with at least 5 years of experience working in UI or UX design and a strong ability to create engaging learning materials.
- You have hands-on design industry experience and up-to-date knowledge of the skills designers' need to learn.
- You’re itching to help professional designers upskill and grow their careers, and you know exactly what it takes.
- You’ve written and published articles on design topics.
- You know how to reach into the lofty heights where abstract ideas live and bring them down to “street level” so our learners can hit the ground running with valuable, practical lessons.
- You’re an expert wordsmith with an eagle eye for the tiniest details and a keen ear for flow.
- You're someone who leaves no stone unturned in the pursuit of flawless and grammatically correct copy.
- You may have the graphic design skills needed to create image-based content to support courses, articles, and social media content.
- You know what the design community likes to read, watch, and learn, and you have the content-creation skills to produce the kind of material they crave.
- You're used to balancing diverse responsibilities, and you're adept at dividing broad duties into small, executable tasks without losing sight of your overall goal. “Getting stuff done” is your middle name.
- You’re a practical idealist. You strive for perfection in everything you do, while understanding the delays that can come with pushing for perfection. You know how to create great results through incremental quick wins and MVPs, and when to go all in to create something perfect.
- You’re results-driven and motivated by achievement and goals. Mediocrity gives you the chills.
- You understand that excellence in your work will lead to great accomplishments and that you’ll only accomplish your goals through hard work and diligence.
- You’re kind and have strong social intelligence and empathy, and the ability to engage well with different types of people through writing.
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in User Experience, Human- Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Technology, Communications or another related field—and/or you have industry experience in UI design, UX design, and HCI as a senior designer.
- You speak and write in English with native fluency, and you can make your messages flow so well that whoever reads your work will be “right there” in the subject matter. As you know, the magic of any user experience is getting people to forget they’re even using a medium to reach you.
- You're a skilled writer and communicator who can explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.
- You love creating inspiring and engaging content that's also accurate and based on research. You know design education can be fun and exciting.
- You're reliable and self-motivated, and don’t rely on micromanagement. You manage your own work and aim to deliver valuable educational design content and make an impact.
- You're located in a time zone anywhere from Western Europe (UTC+0 in the UK) and all the way to Southeast Asia (UTC+8 in Singapore)

What We Can Offer
- Our co-founder and CEO will work closely with you and your team. She understands your challenges and triumphs because she was once the sole editor and video editor during IxDF's initial growth phase. This gives her in-depth experience in course planning, expert interviews, video shoots, and content editing. She remains deeply passionate about content creation and recently filmed at MoMA for an AI-art video.
- A full-time position, within a fully remote organization. Daily video-based collaboration with your colleagues from elsewhere on the planet, and you'll get to meet up on team trips every year.
- A work culture with no fluffy titles, political agendas and corporate drama. Your colleagues value your warm character, your strong work ethic, and the results you deliver. Junior or senior, if you embody old-school virtues of always striving to deliver results, learn and become better every day, you'll thrive at the IxDF.
- A daily mission to help impact, empower, and enrich the lives of millions of people by creating affordable high-end design education to everyone across the planet. It'll be yours too.
- A company where the distance between idea and execution is minimal. We're a highly agile organisation with zero bureaucracy or corporate politics -- and with exceptional order and efficiency.
- A company culture where passion meets high performance and excellence. To help us improve the world (and yourself in the process), you'll need grit, strong work ethic, long-term thinking, and self-discipline.
- We thrive because we have a hands-on attitude and a bias towards action as opposed to fluff-filled, unrealistic strategies. You'll need crisp execution skills yourself and the ability to impress your colleagues with concrete results, just like they'll impress you.

I'm currently working on overhauling an existing application explicitly tailored for grading trading card games (TCGs) like Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and One Piece. This app leverages cutting-edge AI technology, enabling users to capture card images using the in-app camera effortlessly. Once the photos are taken, the app delivers precise grading and valuation for each card. Moreover, users can immerse themselves in an interactive experience by viewing the results in augmented reality.
I'm looking for a design that differentiates us from traditional grading companies. Incorporating elements of technology and Japanese culture could be a fantastic approach.
Im looking for a designer to redesign 10 screens and get creative.
Looking for someone to start directly

Job Description
We’re Secret Sauce, a cutting-edge design firm, and we’re looking for a talented, experienced web, brand, and visual designer to join our team on a new, exciting project. Our client needs a sleek, forward-thinking brand and website, and you’ll be working directly with me (a designer and the CEO of Secret Sauce) to bring it to life. This project could also lead to many more opportunities. Please also let us know if you work in 3D/Blender/Spline (not required for this project, but could impact our decision).
What you’ll do:
Collaborate with the Secret Sauce team on developing a cohesive brand identity, graphical style, and website (similar to neon.tech, reflect.app, and authkit.com). You must be able to hit this specific quality and aesthetic.
Design a modern, intuitive, and visually stunning website using Figma.
Create graphic elements and animations to enhance the user experience. Proficiency in After Effects and Rive is a big plus.
Contribute to discussions on overall aesthetic and UX, bringing fresh ideas and impeccable taste to the table.

Fluency in Figma—from prototyping to handing off polished designs.
An exceptional sense of design and aesthetics, with a strong portfolio that showcases clean, contemporary web design.
Animation skills in After Effects and Rive (preferred but not required).
Ability to collaborate closely, take direction, and offer creative solutions...sometimes on a tight timeline.
Experience working on projects that balance cutting-edge visuals with seamless functionality.
English Fluency required. Working hours overlapping with Pacific Time (USA) required.
What we offer:
The chance to shape a high-profile brand and website from the ground up.
