POSTED Dec 8
Software Engineer at Respell
- Programming
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
Respell is a no-code platform for building generative AI workflows, and we’re looking for the best engineers a good vision can buy.
Who We Are
I’m Matt, ex-Atmos cofounder and AI enthusiast. I learned machine learning in 2014, data scienced at NASA, got a little distracted, built a homebuilding company, then realized I have a gravitational attraction towards AI and it can’t wait.
And there’s others just like me; experts in multiple domains and radically hungry.
- We build fast and carefully, we think in systems, and we’re empathetic + deeply rational. If you like to optimistically logic things out with a clear end goal, we’ll have fun.
- We care about the team. We’re not family, but we’re comrades on a quest to build something that makes people say “holy shit” all the while keeping each other sane. We’ll have your back.
- We expect results, and we’ll show you how to get them. We also expect you to challenge us. If a student isn’t learning, the teacher must change.
Who You Are
- You’re a self-starter. You make things happen, and you’re excited when they do. You’re fixed on the high of users raving about the feature you just pushed.
- You’re smart because you learn fast and adapt. Problems are puzzles to you, and you’re in it for the journey.
- You’re not an asshole. You can get passionate, but it doesn’t boil over. You might have a disdain for company politics, or at the least dislike them. You treat people with respect.
- You believe AI is the future. Maybe not in a SkyNet type of way, nor an Ex Machina type of way, but in a trend-analyzed, first principles deduction type of way. Ideally you have some generative AI/LLM experience or strong insights.
The Perils You’ll Face
Startups are hard. Sometimes they do this funny thing called “running out of money” with unfortunate frequency. My past startups have not done this so far, and I feel much more confident that Respell will not experience this fate. Nonetheless, danger lies ahead.
- There will be times when you feel like we’re building the wrong thing. This could be anything from a single feature to the whole company. We’ll figure it out together.
- You will work hard. If you’ve been nodding your head and smiling so far, you can weather it. Victory feels better when your sweat is on the ground.
- You will disagree with us. Our promise is to listen to your concerns and change our minds when you’re right (and this will happen regularly, in my experience).
- You will struggle to solve hard problems. We will have many, and they will appear at the most misfortunate times.
The Treasure You’ll Find
Startups are rewarding. Sometimes it’s what you’d expect, oftentimes in places you don’t expect.
- You’ll be paid in cash and equity. We all have to eat, and starving teammates make hangry teammates. I don’t want to deal with that. Plus, you could be rich! (standard disclaimers apply)
- You’ll learn a ton. Everything after Respell will seem much easier.
- You’ll have fun. Shipping is inherently fun, winning is even more fun, and when all else fails I have an unlimited supply of absolutely terrible jokes.
- I’ll train you however I can to be an entrepreneur, then help you start your company. I can’t expect you to stay forever, though I’d love a few years at least. When we do part ways, I’ll bake an embarrassing goodbye cake and set you up with capital, connections, advice, and more.
Include this as your first sentence in your first question in the application: “I WANT TO MAKE MAGIC”
We’re excited to hear from you 🙂

POSTED Dec 8
Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Remote) | 100% Remote, No-code SaaS, Tier 1 investors at Process Street
- Programming
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
Who we are:
Process Street is a no-code workflow platform startup from San Francisco. We help our customers build, document, automate, and track recurring workflows. Our platform stores knowledge where the action happens, ensuring thorough and error free execution of workflows that our global customers run their businesses on. We service over 3k customers around the world, such as Airbnb, Spotify, AstraZeneca, and Accenture, and are VC-backed by Accel, Salesforce, and Atlassian.
Our Mission:
To make recurring work fun, fast, and faultless for teams everywhere.
Our culture:
Process Street was founded on a strong belief in the work-life benefits of a healthy, collaborative, remote culture. We value flexibility because many of us are parents, travelers, or just creatives who aren't inspired by the construct of a mundane 9-to-5. Spread across 9 different time zones, we communicate asynchronously, work autonomously, and take real ownership of our work. We know human connections are what make teams strong, so we regularly do coffee chats, game-playing, story-telling, and more to build strong relationships.
If you’re entrepreneurial and seek an environment that values impact, ownership, and flexibility we look forward to meeting you!
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior/Staff Engineer to architect and develop our Scala/Play 2/Postgres app.
Process Street is built on Scala/Play 2, Angular, React, Redux, ReactQuery, Chakra, X-State and AWS. We use modern tools, which means you’ll have the opportunity to work with software like PostgreSQL, Redis, CircleCI, Docker and much more.
What You’ll Do
- Research, guide, and execute backend architecture changes
- Deploy scalable backend API endpoints
- Build Frontend re-using React components, Chakra and Storybook
- Measure and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Build tools, processes, and documentation to improve our code quality
- Eventually be the Tech-lead of a team (2-3 developers)
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years of software development experience
- Experience with Scala (or Java, Ruby, or C#)
- Experience building and maintaining a SaaS product at scale
- Experience in Technical Leadership roles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A degree in computer science, software engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with JavaScript & React
About you:
- You live in GMT -5 through GMT+3.
- You want agency. We practice the Shape Up process and run 6-week cycles and 2-week cooldowns. For the 6-week cycles, PMs provide a problem statement and some guidelines – no tickets, no detailed specs, no high-fidelity solutions, and no estimates. Designers and engineers are trusted to craft the best solution possible in the cycle using user research, data, experience, and grit. During the 2-week cooldowns, you have the autonomy to work on what's important to you – including code maintainability or making the team faster. If a lot of responsibility, freedom, and ambiguity sounds refreshing, this role is for you.
- You're well-versed in JavaScript and Scala (or Ruby/Java/C# or eager to learn it!). Process Street is built on Scala/Play 2, Angular, React, Redux, ReactQuery, Chakra, X-State, Postgres, Serverless, and AWS. If you've built backend APIs and front-end React components, you're an ideal candidate for this role. Experience with Scala is ideal but not required. If you like functional programming or are interested in learning it, you should apply.
- You love to ship. We move fast. We deploy continuously behind feature flags, and release to customers at the end of every cycle. We utilize CI/CD and maintain ~70% test coverage.
- You love process but loathe meetings, bureaucracy, and ceremony. We think process is a tool. Used well, it makes us a better, faster team. But when it's not doing that, we drop it. We avoid unnecessary meetings whenever possible. A typical week for our engineers and designers has fewer than 5 hours of meetings.
- You want to have a big impact. We're a small team, and we're still early stage. We don't have designated areas of responsibility, and everyone wears the product hat. Every cycle brings new challenges, and your sphere of influence is wide. You love the variety and don't want to be shackled to a single project for years.
- You have 7 or more years of experience in software development. We will hire in a range of levels for this position. So if the role excites you, and you have 5 years of experience but don't have the exact title listed here, you should apply.
Our Benefits
- “No Meeting” Fridays!
- Unlimited PTO policy – Most take 3-4 weeks, plus their major holidays, AND a company-wide week off in December.
- Company offsite – We get together as a whole company to celebrate company milestones as well as encourage and sponsor small group meetups so that you can meet your teammates face-to-face around the world.
- Social time – We know human connections are what make teams strong. We regularly do coffee chats, game-playing, story-telling, house tours (only if you're comfortable), and more to build connections.
- Generous health insurance – for US employees and their families, including dental and vision plans.
- Equity for all full-time roles.
Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. Process Street is a place where everyone can grow. So however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, please apply if this is a role that would make you excited to come into work every day.
We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We are committed to equal opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity, genetic information, parental or pregnancy status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or Veteran status.

Health care is all about conversations, with over 2B spoken conversations each year between patients and their care teams in just the United States. However, people forget up to 80% of those conversations, leading to worse patient outcomes. And doctors are burning out writing notes in their EMRs instead of focusing on their patients. That’s where Abridge comes in our audio-based standalone and integrated solutions record and summarize medical conversations, anywhere care happens.
About the role:
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll play a key role in helping us scale and mature our business by building and supporting new + existing web applications and their supporting backends. You’ll be writing code (mostly Typescript), making architectural decisions, recommending technologies to adopt, and ensuring that our systems scale up reliably and securely.
What you’ll do:
- Scale up our business by designing, building, and supporting easy-to-use web applications, including both front-end features and the backend services and data models that power them.
- Make & implement technology decisions that support business needs without compromising security, privacy or quality
- Enhance existing systems to add new functionality, and to improve performance, stability, quality, and security
- Advocate for high standards; make quality-of-life improvements to the codebase; and help limit the growth of technical debt
- Build deep user empathy and maintain a user-centric mindset
- Communicate regularly and effectively within and on behalf of our cross-functional product delivery teams. You’ll work with other disciplines including design, product, machine learning, and infrastructure, and will have opportunities to learn from and contribute to projects across the company
What you’ll bring:
- 5+ years experience building, shipping and operating web applications at scale. You’ve seen what works, and probably a few things that didn’t work.
- Experience as a lead engineer on a major component or subsystem of a software platform, or as the lead for the platform itself
- Excitement about working in our tech stack, which is primarily NodeJS (Typescript) and React running on Google Cloud (GCP)
- Ability to act with autonomy & self-direction while working well in a team environment
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed – as a fast-moving startup we need to do good work, quickly
$175,000 – $205,000 a year
Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range is listed, which applies to California, Colorado, New Jersey, New York, and Washington. The base salary range for other locations may vary. Actual base salary will be dependent on geographic location, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and/or other job-related factors. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may also be eligible to participate in a company stock option plan. Salary listed does not include total compensation, e.g. equity.
We value people who want to learn new things, and we know that great team members might not perfectly match a job description. If you’re interested in the role but aren’t sure whether or not you’re a good fit, we’d still like to hear from you.
Life at Abridge
At Abridge, we’re driven by our mission to bring understanding and follow-through to every medical conversation. Our culture is founded on doing things the inverse way in a legacy systemfocusing on patients, instead of the system; focusing on outcomes, instead of billing; and focusing on the end-user experience, instead of a hospital administrator’s mandate.
Abridgers are engineers, scientists, designers, and health policy experts from a diverse set of backgroundsan experiment in alchemy that helps us transform an industry dominated by EHRs and enterprise into a consumer-driven experience, one recording at a time. We believe in strong ideas, loosely held, and place a high premium on a growth mindset. We push each other to grow and expose each other to the latest in our respective fields. Whether it’s holding a PhD-level deep dive into understanding fairness and underlying bias in machine learning models, debating the merits of a Scandinavian design philosophy in our UI/UX, or writing responses for Medicare rules to influence U.S. health policy, we prioritize sharing our findings across the team and helping each other be successful.
Abridge is an equal opportunity employer. Diversity and inclusion is at the core of what we do. We actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds (including but not limited to race, gender, educational background, and sexual orientation).
We are aware of individuals and entities fraudulently representing themselves as Abridge recruiters and/or hiring managers. Abridge will never ask for financial information or payment, or for personal information such as bank account number or social security number during the job application or interview process. Any emails from the Abridge recruiting team will come from an @abridge.com email address. You can learn more about how to protect yourself from these types of fraud by referring to this article.
