Job Description

We’re thrilled to announce our new name Firstup! Our SaaS platform is fundamentally changing how organizations communicate and is the backbone of the entire Digital Employee Experience. From the front line to the C-suite, we help deliver targeted information at the right time, in the right place, and in the right language. We are unifying the digital workplace and giving workers personalized access to all the systems, resources, and applications they need to do their jobs.

Our ValuesEvery Employee is an Owner with responsibility and credit for our progressLeadership is in our build and we see change as a catalyst for improvementWe win as a team, committed to help our coworkers and customers thriveJust received this version though:

We are a distributed team. While we have offices in several cities, we build solutions for distributed workforces, so we model our own workforce the same way. In this role you really can work where you want.

About the Job

  • Work through design problems from beginning to end: translate user needs and research insights into disruptive new product ideas and features, then design the workflows and detailed interactions to realize them
  • Communicate design ideas using appropriate level of effort and detail — know when to use frameworks, system diagrams, loose sketches, wireframes, and comprehensive prototypes
  • Take a data-informed design approach, leveraging user research, usage data, and other qualitative and quantitative inputs to inform design direction
  • Contribute to our cross-platform design system and language with an eye on accessibility — we build products that can scale for a global audience, and are useful and usable to everyone
  • Collaborate with other designers to create a singular, cohesive experience across products, while both leveraging and contributing to a centralized design system
  • Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional peers (Product Management, Engineering, Data Analysts, Marketing, etc), and proactively share work and iterate based on feedback from the whole team
  • Own the success or failure of your design work, and initiate design sprints to improve shipped work

About You

  • User-centered — You think beyond the pixels on the screen, toward value for the user
  • Team mindset — You embrace feedback, proactively seek it out to inform and unblock your own work, and proactively share it with others to help level up the work of your peers
  • Curious problem-solver — You love the discovery process, and embrace turning loose requirements into tangible wireframes and prototypes that deepen our collective understanding of the problem being solved, pushing beyond the obvious to create deeply resonant and meaningful solutions
  • Strong communicator, collaborator, and facilitator — You tell compelling stories that articulate the ‘why’ of your design work, and you facilitate collaborative workshops, working sessions, and design sprints that bring the best out of your team
  • Proactive doer — You understand that inertia is the enemy, and you take steps to unblock creativity under ambiguity, generate data where there is none, explore and share new ideas, and keep work moving in the right direction
  • Measured — You form opinions on what success means for a project, and seek data to understand why your designs succeed or fail in order to iterate and improve
  • 5+ years of experience designing products and experiences across web and mobile
  • A portfolio that demonstrates passion for user-centered design, and simple solutions to complex, human problems. Samples that highlight strong visual design, product design, usability, and design thinking skills.
