Senior Product Designer at Elaborate
- Design
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
The problem
Today, it's easier to learn about our Spotify listening habits or Uber rider patterns than our own health. Lab testing is the gold standard for evaluating our health and informing medical decisions. But, as patients, we rarely understand what the results are telling us. The result is packed with medical jargon we don’t understand, ranges that aren’t personalized to us, and red flags that only increase our panic, not our comprehension. It is a design nightmare.
We attempt to decipher things on our own, consulting unreliable online sources like Google that send us down the path of dangerous self-diagnosing. With each self-diagnosis, our panic builds.
As patients, our instinct is to reach out to the doctor for clarification in these moments. But providing clarification to these questions, often redundant and basic, one by one is a time-consuming, taxing process for doctors, most of whom do this work in their free, personal, unpaid time.
With Elaborate, there’s a better way.
Our solution
Elaborate is the modern way for a doctor to send lab results. Founded by an ex-Oscar, ex-Parsley exec, Elaborate has raised a $10M seed from some of the most iconic investors and entrepreneurs, including Tusk Ventures, Company Ventures, Founder Collective, Bling Capital, and Arkitekt Ventures.
Doctors use Elaborate to explain to patients what their health data means and what to do next. The company's technology integrates with doctors' EMRs and analyzes patient data with Elaborate’s proprietary clinical insights engine, enabling doctors to send a automated, personalized report summarizing patients' key findings. The technology is responsible for health data coverage of over 500,000 patients and has integrations live with 65+ EMRs.
We help patients understand what their results mean and what to do next, freeing doctors to focus on their calling.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to research and design substantial parts of software as a service (SaaS) workflow, including internal and client-facing experiences. As you might expect, this is a big opportunity for someone looking to take big leaps in doing something that matters and massively accelerate their career development.
This role will ultimately have a very close partnership with both the CEO and product advisors, as well as our Engineering, Product, Growth and Operations teams.
🔮 At Elaborate, design is not a siloed department, but a core quality that touches every part of the Elaborate brand, experience and company. As a founding member of the team, you will advocate for design and experience to create product solutions that establish Elaborate as the most trusted and intuitive lab results experience for both patients and practitioners.
The top qualities we’re looking for:
- You have experience in service design: You have experience designing end-to-end solutions in messy, real-world domains, whether that's in healthcare, law, finance, etc, for multiple internal and external stakeholders, and are excited to apply that experience to healthcare. You show strong research and design processes and execution. You excel in investigating and prioritising multiple user needs, testing possible solutions, and creating holistically designed experiences.
- You have a bias towards outcomes: You ask hard questions and challenge assumptions to ensure that we're solving the right problems and measuring whether we are actually solving them. You ship products on time and within boundaries. You are capable of directing the majority of your time and prioritising your own work according to company goals, finding the fastest path to gain traction and execution.
- You lead cross-functional teams: As a founding member of the team, you think and act like an owner. Moving as a pack, and not a lone wolf, you engage folks from different teams into the solution-creating process, and help them articulate the rationale and tradeoffs behind design decisions.
The type of work you’ll do:
- Lead product development: Lead the Elaborate team of engineers, clinicians, and other cross-functional teammates, in the iterative design of end-to-end experiences for our doctors and patients. Occasionally own product management. Wireframe, design, and prototype artifacts that will help engineers and stakeholders understand your usable and delightful solutions. Expand our brand design system to upgrade the craft, scalability, and accessibility of the product.
- Improve with service design: Proactively identify opportunities to improve our internal tools and processes to create a stellar lab result processing experience for both patients and doctors. You have experience creating a service design map, identifying parts of the flow that can be automated with technology, and working with engineering and operations to create a more efficient data flow.
- Illuminate with research: You have lots of examples where you've set up and conducted qualitative research initiatives that elevate the team's understanding of their users, their problems, and potential solutions that would best serve them. You are comfortable with leading ethnographic studies and usability studies. You'll partner with Operations and Sales on recruiting for research, and synthesise key findings into digestible artifacts for stakeholders.
- Influence product strategy: Representing the intersection of user needs and business goals, you'll have the unique opportunity to influence product strategy during this early stage of the business, as we hone product-market fit. Proactively identify problems and propose initiatives in annual product strategy planning and quarterly OKR roadmap planning.
Some projects you could work on:
- Design a new lab results processing experience that seamlessly supports doctors’ existing workflows and provides clinical feedback to our clinical and operations team.
- Iteratively design how patients receive their lab results, based on learnings from research.
- Add new features, like new user education, onboarding and multi-account authentication, to the newly designed patient experience, that improve patient access and next steps adherence
- Create and maintain a service design map, developing a shared understanding of weaknesses in our systems and processes, and advocate for new internal projects.
In case you're curious, here's what's in our tool box:
- Figma Design & Prototyping
- Miro + Hotjar
- Notion + Google Suite + Slack
- Shortcut
What you will get in return for being an awesome member of the team:
- We pay you competitively and commit to open conversations about the trajectory of your compensation on a semiannual basis.
- We give you a meaningful piece of the pie, and are transparent about how early employee equity works and is valued as we grow the Company.
- We invest in you as someone choosing to dedicate some of their best professional years with us. Expect lots of actionable feedback, connections to rockstars in our vast network (incl investors, and advisors), and sponsorship for part-time continuing education opportunities.
- We prioritize flexibility, with most of the team working in a hybrid or fully remote role. Plus, we’ve got a generous time off policy.
We give you a front-row seat, to building a business from the ground up, with the added benefit of having secured capital to invest in early product development and company infrastructure. There is no better way to get a crash course on how to start your own business, and we commit to supporting you wholly if you choose to pursue that path.

Our team at our Hackathon in July ‘22
What you’ve done before:
What we’ve written above should give you a pretty good sense of whether this is the right fit for you. If you’re looking for a comfortable, routine, and predictable job, where you execute orders from someone else, this is not the right fit.
To help those who are still on the fence, we’ve included a couple of guidelines of what we think the best candidates will have done before. That said, we eagerly accept non-traditional candidates who are able to show us why they’ll be amazing for this role.
Most likely, you have:
- 4+ years of designing a product that people want, with 2+ years of service design to support a great user experience
- Show strong design process and execution, with a specialty in researching the problem and creating elegant solutions.
- Taken a product or feature from idea to MVP, and then from MVP to maturity, meeting goals set out at onset.
- A deep understanding of multiple research methodologies, ranging from qualitative to quantitative, and when to utilise one versus the other.
- Experience in the B2B space, designing for a technology-adverse population. Bonus points for direct experience with practitioners.
- Experience with Figma design and prototyping
- Experience designing for company strategic metrics
- Passion for improving the healthcare space by designing technology to improve the practitioner and patient experience
Also, feel free to reach out to recruiting@elaborate.com if you don’t think this is the right role but you’re excited to chat about other opportunities coming down the pipe.

Product Designer at Bags
- Design
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
The Role.
We’re hiring a product designer to create products that are easy to use, beautiful, and help diverse and women-owned small businesses thrive. As an early team member, you’ll have a huge part in shaping our product direction and design culture.
We’re looking for someone to leverage future-proof design and research to own how our products and customer journeys (small business owners, funding providers, and internal/external stakeholders) come to fruition and grow to meet the needs of our community. An ideal candidate is ready to care about every pixel of our apps and every detail of our brand identity (even our swag), and excited about taking on a major challenge of surface and depth in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
It’s not an easy job, and we’re looking for somebody who thrives on challenge and creative problem-solving. Our product journey has led to a best-in-class service to connect diverse and women-owned small businesses to fair lenders. Now we’re ready to supercharge our growth with a world-class team that’s obsessed with the problem we aim to solve.
Your day to day:
- Own all design elements, from conception to reality. You’ll zoom in and out, from addressing major strategic product questions to picking the best shade for a shadow and tweaking our site in Webflow. From a spoon to the city.
- Meet our customers, understand their needs, and build a strong vision while staying open to adaptations as you learn.
- Look at data and building insights alongside your design intuition and understanding of universal design principles.
- Solving meaningful problems without burning time on corporate fluff and stakeholder management. You won’t need to touch Google Slides to get your job done— just focus on designing, building, and shipping great work.
- Work alongside a lean and dynamic team to build world-class software.
Requirements
You should apply if:
- You have significant experience building product design for financial or technical products
- You have strong UX/UI and interaction design skills, and a high bar for quality and craft
- You seek simplicity in everything you design by constantly shrinking problems and fighting complexity until your solutions look obvious and almost inevitable.
- You’re a product designer, but also a strong visual designer with experience designing brand pieces and preparing assets for print when needed. Someone who has mastered Figma or Sketch, but also knows their way around art-working, how to handle color profiles, and cares about how things look.
- You have product design experience, preferably working with financial or fintech products.
- You’re not a user researcher, but keep research as a fundamental part of your toolbox. You can run a proper user interview or a survey with ease as part of your design process.
- You’re a good writer and know how to communicate effectively both through your design work and your collaboration skills.
- You try out new products all the time and have developed a refined taste of what great software looks (and feels) like.
- You’re comfortable getting hands-on in a very early-stage startup environment. We’re a small team so you’ll be involved in tons of zero-to-one projects.
- You’re comfortable putting something out there when it’s not perfectly polished to gather feedback, whether that’s an MVP of a feature or your thoughts on a design.
- You care about the team and culture we are building and understand the importance of giving feedback and supporting others around you.
- You’re excited about what we’re doing!
Logistics.
💛 Our commitment to diversity
We care deeply about creating a diverse team, so we particularly encourage applications from people from different underrepresented demographics and encourage you, regardless of your background and past experience, to apply if the role excites you.
We want to help small business owners thrive, regardless of their background. To do this, our team has to represent our customers. To attract the best talent we strive to create an environment that supports and includes everyone.

- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
Product Designer – Fully Remote
Electric vehicle sales are surging – over half of new cars sold as of 2030 globally are predicted to be electric. But one of the most challenging elements of owning an electric vehicle is its charging and that’s where we come in.
We set up in 2018 to make EV charging simple, green and low cost for drivers, to encourage EV adoption and reduce carbon emissions from transport. Core to our platform is a proprietary smart-charging algorithm, dynamically aligning charging with intermittent low-carbon electricity, reducing carbon emissions from grid electricity by as much as 70%. We’ve so far secured over 13 million USD in funding, have over 100k drivers using our app, and were named ‘Best Energy Startup in the World’ when we won the Free Electrons programme.
To achieve all of this, we gathered a great team bringing expertise from their previous roles at National Grid, Bulb, BBOX, Powervault, BCG, Starling, and more. We’re now over 70 people working fully remotely across Europe and North America, and pride ourselves on our inclusive and collaborative culture.
We’re aiming to have over a million drivers using our product, and we’re looking for even more talented and passionate folk to join our mission.
The role
- Our Driver team is looking for a hands-on, self-motivated Product Designer to work on our solar product.
- We’ve developed our solar feature to the point of MVP stage – we’re now ready to progress to full development and feature expansion. Launching this product will forge new partnerships that will help us reach hundreds of thousands of customers. This is an exciting time to join a small but rapidly growing team where you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the product development process.
- As our Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing and prototyping new user experiences based on product requirements. Deliverables include design mockups, prototyping, production of visual assets and importantly, the documentation required for proper implementation.
- As a key part of our design team you’ll flourish in a dynamic start-up environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. You’ll be a natural collaborator and an excellent communicator.
- You have a keen eye for details and aesthetics, but your strengths lie in distilling complex issues and data, breaking them down into iterations and translating them into clean, simple solutions. You must be a self-starter, able to work independently and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision.
What will you do?
- Design and ship new features end-to-end and drive product improvements
- Tackle ambiguous design problems
- Work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers and your design peers
- Create, collaborate and iterate on design work, from concept to high-fidelity
- Translate data-heavy screens into user-friendly interactions
- Build a product that our users love
What are we looking for?

- Have an interest in sustainability, green tech or electric vehicle
- Have worked with cross-functional teams of engineers and product managers in the past

- Be a master at every design discipline and tool ever invented
- Have a website – PDF’s or notion pages with case studies including process breakdowns and impact of your work will be fine
- Have a professional qualification
- Know how to code (but knowing how developers work is key)
- Have a specific number of years of experience – but you should be able to demonstrate real-world experience with cross-functional teams building complex products
How will we support you?
- Remote working, investing in your home office setup or a co-working location convenient for you
- Access to conferences, meet-ups and training
- A top of the range Macbook Pro and all you need to do your best work

Why you should join Bento
Bento is customer onboarding as a service for B2B SaaS companies. We believe in a world where great businesses are built on the backs of innovative products and the ability for customers to repeatedly get value out of those products. Concepts like "time-to-value" are increasingly important – not just for the customer, but for the business and software teams.
Even initial "onboarding" or "implementation" is just the tip of the iceberg. We rally around a vision of everboarding.
Our team has decades of collective experience in building onboarding and adoption workflows. We also have deep empathy with the internal Success and Growth teams who have limited resources in experimenting with and shaping these product experiences.
That's why we're building Bento, to give modern software companies the system to design engaging and collaborative adoption workflows, without needing to build or maintain it in-house.
