Job Description

CarbonSpace is developing a satellite-powered platform for monitoring land-based carbon footprint. Our goal is to facilitate the global transition to net-zero, by providing the agriculture, food and forestry industries with an accurate, scalable and cost-effective tool for tracking emissions and sequestrations from grasslands, croplands and forests. The CarbonSpace platform allows driving carbon footprint transparency within supply chains and assessing the impact of sustainability and natural carbon removal programs.

CarbonSpace is a team of professionals in Space, Sustainability, and ICT domains spread across Europe, the USA and Latin America.
We are looking for a IT Engineering Lead for our IT department and help us build great products. You’ll also manage our infrastructure and ensure all systems operate securely and effectively.
To be successful in this role, you should be confident in managing our teams while, at the same time, setting goals, budgets and timelines for various projects. We also expect you to be in charge of our integrations with external partners and oversee all software development plans from ideation to execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Design SW and cloud infrastructure architecture for our products
  • Oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects
  • Ensure implementation of tasks according to the product development roadmap
  • Perform daily agile routine in Jira
  • Monitor reliability and performance of all production systems to suggest improvements
  • Ensure compliance with security regulations
  • Manage software development projects by setting requirements, goals and timelines
  • Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget
  • Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources
  • Hire engineers and coordinate their training
  • Implement innovative technologies
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Quick learner
  • Strong understanding of modern SW development approaches
  • Deep understanding of modern Python is a big plus
  • Ability to define solutions that solve large scale complex business problems
  • Ability to take a hands on approach building or driving technical solutions
  • Ability to understand existing codebase and expand to new product requirements
  • Strong understanding of modern GNU/Linux
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing, ability to design and implement large scale cloud architectures - AWS specific knowledge is a big plus
  • Previous GIS experience is a big plus
  • 10 years of experience working in IT fields
  • 2 years of experience working on a leading position
