Who are we looking for:

Wunderman Thompson Apps is seeking a Director of Project Management to join our growing team! The Director of Project Management will report directly into our VP of Delivery and be part of the Apps Delivery Leadership Team.

As the Director, you will provide overall leadership, vision and strategic planning for the team and our client engagements. The right candidate brings a can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial approach. While management of these teams requires big picture strategic thinking, it also requires a willingness to dive into the most nuanced details of operational tasks. We look for teammates who are humble, curious, kind, proactive, resourceful, and will challenge us at every turn. What you’ll do:

  • Lead | Oversee the Program and Project Management teams responsible for all program/project scoping, project plans/timelines, and cost estimations. Ultimately this role is held directly accountable to productivity, profitability, process efficiency, delivery excellence and risk management.
  • Workflow | Active member of the delivery leadership team ensuring shippable software is delivered with value in a timely manner across all teams.
  • Develop | Foster an encourage an environment of successful delivery and continues improvement
  • Communicate | You have very strong communication and negotiation skills (clients, peers and vendors), with an ability to distill and simplify business problems, solutions and deliverables, with an eye toward finding team alignment and paving the way to scale and grow our business.
  • Process | Ensure teams utilize agile methodologies correctly with the goal of reducing project risk, increase performance visibility, and better controlling outcomes
  • Pursue | Work with your teams to predict resource needs to meet objectives and delivery dates

  • Partnership | Partner with the VP of Delivery and Delivery Leadership team on the revenue and profitability, operating expenses, forecasting.

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant Program Management and Project Management.
  • Familiarity and strong proficiency in agile methodologies and software development.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team in an agile or POM environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of JIRA, Confluence.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills; able to provide guidance to others and step in to lead processes where needed.
  • Demonstrate empathy, confidence, negotiation, and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Proven track record using analytical skills and data-driven decision making to support and improve Agile development operations Proven experience with industry best practices of workflow implementations across project scoping, revenue forecasting, recruiting, staffing and new-hire training.
  • Credible leader who wins the confidence of their team and pioneers’ new ways of thinking for our clients.
