Product Designer at Red Collar
- Design
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
Hello! We are looking for a senior specialist to join the Red Collar team in the design communications department.
Red Collar has been creating aesthetic digital products for businesses for 12 years. We experiment, make bold decisions, and take responsibility for our actions. Our projects have no "expiration date" — even after many years, they continue to inspire and serve as benchmarks.
Responsibilities:
You're a proactive team player skilled at integrating into existing design processes, ready to view them from a new perspective and work on their improvement.
You're meticulous and detail-oriented, diving deep into tasks from the acceptance stage, delving into requirements, asking questions, and thinking broadly about the product.
As a responsible and empathetic leader, you know how to take charge of a group of designers on a project, plan their work, control the quality of the outcome, listen to their professional needs, and provide assistance where necessary.
You're thorough in your approach, understanding that tasks are more than just instructions for action. You always consider the context and surroundings, recognizing when it's essential to grasp the underlying meaning and fill in any gaps in your knowledge.
Open to discussion, you're also prepared to initiate it, understanding where transparency is lacking and creating platforms for constructive resolution of emerging issues. You build trustful, collaborative relationships within the workgroup.
You're quick to understand, able to decode client desires and bring references that accurately describe their request so the team knows what to do next.
You know that the devil is in the details, paying close attention to everything from button rounding to color shades, and instilling this approach across the team. You maintain order in your layouts and files, ensuring anyone on the project can easily navigate them without your help.
You can channel creativity in the right direction, familiar with the concept of a constraint corridor, working within it, and shaping it for the team. You understand that a good idea comes through creative sessions and numerous work iterations.
You test your solutions, relying not only on your expertise but also on hypothesis testing through UX research.
You are professional in communication, interacting with clients and the team consistently, respectfully, and constructively, and presenting your work results. Your statements are always backed by solid arguments, not just words tossed into the wind.
What we expect:
- Experience of at least 3 years in product development or in an agency working on product projects.
- Development of mobile applications, web services with complex branching logic, and interfaces for other regularly used platforms with high user load.
- Creation and support of expansive and documented design systems.
- Leadership of a design team on a major project for at least six months.
- A portfolio with a minimum of five commercial projects that demonstrate a high level of visual literacy.

Job Description
Our mission at Halo is to move science forward. One of Fast Company’s 2021 “World Changing Ideas,” Halo’s platform connects scientists directly with companies to bring new innovations to the world. We work with the R&D teams at global, iconic companies – including Bayer, P&G and PepsiCo – on topics ranging from sustainability to human health. Since going live in January 2020, more than 10,000 scientists from 100+ countries have joined. We are venture-backed by Asymmetric Capital, Village Global, Lightbank, Marketplace Capital, Anne Wojcicki (CEO of 23&Me), Lenny Rachitsky’s Air Angels (Airbnb angel group) and other top-tier investors.
Read on and see our reviews on Glassdoor.
Halo is currently searching for a Product Designer to work with our Head of Design to help realize our vision as we enter our next phase of growth. You should be passionate about our mission, energized by the challenge and eager to share a robust portfolio of past product design work. As a Product Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform. This position calls for a blend of creativity, systems thinking, and data literacy: You’ll uncover user needs, tackle complex design challenges, own major new features, and design immaculate UI. Your efforts will directly enhance how our users experience Halo, fostering a more connected and innovative research community.
What You'll Do:
Develop a deep understanding of both user and organizational needs for all sides of the Halo marketplace.
Transform open-ended questions and ideas into concrete and intuitive features for the Halo platform.
Facilitate contribution from cross-disciplinary stakeholders within Halo’s team.
Drive the full design process: Ideate, conduct research (qualitative & quantitative), prototype, test, support the build alongside engineering, and reflect on outcomes.
Expand on Halo’s design system and help build Halo’s design culture.
Stay at the forefront of design trends, tools, and practices, integrating them into your work and sharing knowledge with the team.
Who you are:
You have 4+ years of experience in product design and a portfolio that showcases expertise in interaction/UX design and visual interface design for complex business use cases.
You have a proven track record of driving design projects and optimizing for speed & quality in a fast-paced environment.
You have excellent writing skills and can craft UX microcopy that supports effective framing for users.
You can work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines—and move nimbly between responsibilities.
You're a clear communicator who can justify design decisions based on qualitative insights or data.
You have expertise in design/prototyping tools and comfort with Agile product delivery.
You appreciate feedback while not being shy to share your own.
You don’t take yourself too seriously. While technically a job, this shouldn’t feel like work because you're inspired by the mission and energized by the challenge.
Nice to Have:
You've worked at a fast-growing startup.
You have design experience at a company offering a B2B marketplace, professional network, ATS, CRM, or project management tool.
You have experience working directly with analytics tools to inform design decisions.
Experience working with a fully-distributed/remote team.
What we offer:
Share in the upside. Early employees have an outsized impact on a startup’s success. It’s only fair that you receive meaningful equity in return.
Donate to research. Make a donation to scientific research you care about and we’ll match your donation dollar-for-dollar.
Volunteer for research. Participate in a research study through ResearchMatch, a nonprofit funded by the NIH, and get a $200 bonus check.
Stay healthy. We don’t ever want your health to be a source of stress and offer top-of-the-line medical, dental, and vision benefits.
