Product Engineer, All Teams (Laravel) at Hospitable.com
- Product
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
tldr; We build software for Airbnbs to rent themselves, with a state-of-the-art product and user experience.
We have crafted an Applicant Handbook, which we highly recommend you check out, where you can find out more about the company, culture, how we recruit, what we do, and how we do it.
We believe in the value of team diversity and seek candidates from a wide range of backgrounds in their work, life, culture, and experiences.
We are bold, like risks, and take on big challenges together. Our customers love the product, provide valuable feedback, and trust us to rapidly help them with more of their problems.
Feel free to join in one of our upcoming Townhalls on Youtube to experience it for yourself!
We are looking for candidates to work in our Core, Direct and Platform teams on all the exciting things we have planned, you can read more about our team breakdowns and get an overview of what each team works on here.
What you will be working on
You will be an important part of our product and engineering team, focusing on shipping glorious experiences to our hosts.
Together with other software engineers and product team, you will be continuing to evolve the product and continue working on our vision to make it trivial to operate a short-term rental.
Although this is a software engineering position, you will have a high degree of ownership and accountability over the product shaping process. This isn’t about dragging Jira tickets and programming what you’re told.
We are currently a fully-distributed team of 4 product managers, 11 backend engineers, and 3 frontend engineers. We're hiring for these roles to help us keep shipping at a high velocity and fill areas in the team that have opened up through growth.
After a few weeks onboarding, you'll dive right into feature development; building, improving and owning the experience that we deliver to hosts and their guests.
To accomplish this, you will:
- Partner with product, sales, customer success, and other engineers to develop and ship features that solve the right problems.
- Use your software engineering chops to build magical user experiences, which are both simple for customers to use and simple for other engineers to understand and maintain.
- Add your voice to product shaping discussions.
- Iterate on launched features based on customer feedback.
- Actively seek out opportunities to innovate.
- Integrate multiple third-party services, often in an asynchronous logic flow.
- Creatively solve issues presented by lots of moving parts at scale.
- Work within our “majestic” monolithic codebase and few micro-services, all sitting on a Kubernetes-powered infrastructure-as-code stack.
- Implement and use observability tooling to track and debug post-deployment.
- Seek out and remedy performance issues, high resource usage, and other technical problem areas that have the most impact on business operations and customer experience.
As a team we are all in on Laravel, we are fortunate to have two Laravel community heavy-weights on our engineering team; Bobby Bouwmann and Tom Herrmann.
Our self-defined tech stack acronym is 🌴 PALM-B; PHP, Angular, Laravel, MySQL and Beanstalk.
Requirements
Hospitable.com is a remote-only and distributed company. For this position, your location is not a requirement. The ideal fit would work under European timezones.
Don’t tick all the boxes? Talk to us about why you’re still an amazing fit. In the meantime, here’s what we’re paying attention to:
- 3+ years software engineering experience, with a focus on backend.
- Significant experience with Laravel, PHP 8.1+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in a deployed web application used by paying customers. We are all in on Laravel; this is non-negotiable.
- A 'shipping' mentality - you get kicks from seeing real customers using your features, receiving feedback from them and iterating/improving on it.
- Exceptional communication skills - especially written. We are a remote-first, fully distributed company. Most communication happens on Slack and Notion.
- Knowing that Siofra's favorite fruit is pineapple
- An eye for testable, maintainable, and intuitive code, but also...
- Your compass points towards customer and business value, over perfect code (if such a thing exists)
- The ability to think through non-obvious usage scenarios and explore ripple effects within complex systems.
- High degree of empathy both toward customers and teammates.
- Self-motivated and able to make decisions when surrounded by uncertainty. You don’t require a support system to maintain momentum.
- Experience with query optimisation and queue/job-centric backends is a plus.
- Experience with support engineering and communicating with stakeholders who are impacted by your work
Benefits
The company itself is also a product, one that we iterate on. We're always improving and creating an environment where we all love to work.
- A supportive and caring team environment, where you are trusted, not managed.
- The total budget for this role is within $106,448.40 - $134,450.00 depending on the cost of living in your location. We can hire talent internationally as contractors—or employees if you are based in the United States, the European Union, or Australia, taking into account payroll taxes to determine your gross compensation.
- We also offer an extra incentive into our equity with RSUs (through our $HOST token) which could range from $47,310.40 to $53,780.00 (not tied to location or status).
- 35 days off per year, encouraged (including self-serve public holidays) and parental leave.
- Mental-health and emotional support with therapists on call through Slack.
- Recognized on Inc.’s list of Best Workplaces for 2023

Cohart is the easiest way to discover, buy, and sell art online. We’re backed by top investors like Courtside Ventures and Paris Hilton. We have artists in every continent and have made ~$2.5M in sales with millennial buyers in our first 2 years – all through word of mouth – and are gearing up to launch our full product next spring.

By sharing what art they love and why they love it, they drive value to pieces or artists they’re passionate about and democratize the art conversation.

Description
LawnStarter is the nations leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and related services, allowing hundreds of thousands of customers nationwide to book a service with the tap of a button. But lawn care is only the beginning – our vision is to become the one-stop shop for all home services.
Our company is flourishing at an incredible pace, profitable and achieving remarkable success. And we’re not stopping there! We’re actively seeking talented and hard-working individuals like you to join our team and help us achieve our ultimate vision.
Senior Product Manager
As a Senior Product Manager at LawnStarter, you will be a key member of our small team of four product managers. You will have a high degree of autonomy to solve problems with engineers, designers, and marketers in order to improve our user experience and grow our business. This is a high leverage role, with exposure to our entire product line and responsibility for key business metrics.
Problems to be solved
Your main responsibility will be to improve our customer acquisition, collaborating to get us more customers and with higher lifetime value. In order to do that, you will need to prioritize and solve problems, which we have plenty of, such as:
Integrated Signup Experience: We have built a complex signup experience. Leads from multiple sources come through various landing pages to an online flow that is supplemented by drip campaigns and a sales team in order to maximize the probability of each conversion. However, with multiple teams touching each of these parts, how do we ensure that the messaging and experience is smooth, while still maximizing conversions? On top of that, as we add more services to our portfolio that complexity only grows, so how can we, at the same time, maximize value for each service, without creating a disjointed experience or overly complex processes?
Conversion Experimentation: We believe in thinking in bets, balancing confidence levels with experimentation so that we can take calculated risks. This doesnt mean every change needs an A/B test, some things are just inherently correct, but understanding what needs to be tested is an absolute must for this role. We have a very heterogeneous customer base, so the same experience doesnt always work for everyone. We need to understand our customers and test hypotheses on what will work better for them.
Cross-selling: Historically we have been mainly a lawn mowing marketplace. Now, we are aggressively investing in growing our other services. You will need to understand how to grow our other services without cannibalizing our mowing business. That includes defining experiences for customer acquisition for multiple services, without sacrificing conversion rates for one-service customers. To solve this challenge, you will need to work closely with our marketing team to develop customer experiences that match their most likely intent.
Setting Expectations: We only get paid when a physical service is done with quality. That means getting a conversion is worth nothing (or negative) if we dont set the right expectations. That means no tricks or half-truths are worth the early churn. It also means that we need to ensure customers understand the logistics of the service, given that someone is going to show up in their yard and start a service. Some of the common issues we have are locked gates, property obstructions, pet waste, and many other blockers to a five-star experience.
Referral Loops: Happy customers want to tell others about our services and get rewarded for it. We have very timid referral incentives, with user flows that havent been updated in a few years. This is a big opportunity to unlock additional growth, and will require understanding the technical and financial aspects of building a great referral experience.
Requirements
Experience: You have 5+ years of experience in building large scale products and at least a few years of experience building customer acquisition funnels. Bonus if you have spent time solving problems we plan to tackle.
Education: You have a STEM or business background or relevant education that makes you suited to solving problems we plan to tackle.
Problem solving approach: You take pride in understanding problems deeply and asking the right questions. You rely on data to inform your gut. You care about having a structured and logical approach to solving ambiguous and poorly defined problems. This is unlikely to be a good fit if your primary skill or interest is in executing/managing the solution building phase (project management) or engineering solutions (software engineering).
Communication: You communicate well and often. One of the defining responsibilities of a PM at LawnStarter is articulating the problem to be solved and getting buy-in from other departments. We take pride in written communication. You understand that being a PM often involves saying no with empathy and reason. This is unlikely to be a good fit if you are someone who is unable to carve time to think deeply about problems and articulate them to your peers.
Excellence: You set extremely high standards for yourself and others around you. When you say something is getting done, the team can trust you. You dont tolerate mediocrity, but you also dedicate your time to helping others evolve and learn so that the team can operate at a higher level. You also understand that often true differentiation only comes from executing well on very hard things, so you dont shy away from challenges. This is unlikely to be a good fit if you dont have a track record of impressive performance.
Bias for action: You understand that in spite of the careful approach you take to understanding problems and identifying opportunities, you actively try not to be perfectionist or get yourself tied up in knots. You have a bias for action in order to make progress. You enjoy being scrappy and constraints enthrall you. This is unlikely to be a good fit if you, by default, like building complete and full solutions from the get go.
Benefits
- Healthcare benefits: Medical, dental, and vision
- Skin in the game: We want our product managers to benefit from significant company growth. To that end, equity is a big portion of how we structure compensation for PMs.
- Fully remote position: Work remotely from anywhere you want.
- Unlimited PTO: We focus on results. Take the time you need to recharge or enjoy life, work hard when you are back.
- $140-$160k annually

POSTED April 16
Sr Product Manager, Gitcoin Labs at Gitcoin
- Product
- Fulltime
- Anywhere (100% Remote) Only
Job Description
As the Sr Product Manager for Gitcoin Labs, you'll lead our day-to-day product management function, with ownership of our near-term roadmap. You will work directly with engineering and design to drive discovery of new customer needs, understand the market, and identify new opportunities for us to succeed in a rapidly-changing environment. Last year, we launched our all-in-one grants tooling (Grants Stack), built on top of the Allo Protocol, and are poised for enormous growth and adoption this year. This position is perfect for a seasoned product manager who is excited to seize a market-defining opportunity.
All product roles at Gitcoin are customer-facing, and you should be equally comfortable chatting with users on Twitter and Discord as you are prioritizing work with engineering. This position will have considerable exposure to leaders in our organization and report to the GM of Labs.
While some of our other openings require deeply specialized knowledge of the crypto & blockchain industry, the primary requirement for this role is a 5+ years of experience in product management and prior ownership of a product line or significant revenue-generating feature set. Experience in B2B SaaS or marketplace products will translate well into our environment, and experience working in open-source or Unix-style environments is a huge bonus.
Responsibilities:
- Connect often with our users and partners to understand their current needs, anticipate their future demands, and validate potential solutions that solve real problems.
- Manage a roadmap of both problems to be solved and actionable solutions that your team can collaborate on and implement effectively to continuously deliver value to users.
- Partner with engineering leadership, CTO, and GM to develop ways of working that encourage innovation and intrapreneurship while keeping our core functionality reliable
- Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders around the company to generate buy-in, integrate feedback, and ensure we are effectively communicating our value to customers and future customers.
- Becoming an expert in the Web3 grants space to understand the changing market landscape, and develop strategies to maximize our advantages, address risks and deliver measurable outcomes.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager for software products
- Perceptive and creative leader and a reliable problem-solver
- Experience scaling products through constant learning and experimentation in fast-paced and rapidly changing industries
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail; you understand how to dive into our user data to help make decisions (SQL familiarity is a huge bonus!)
- One day in crypto can be more eventful than a year in other industries. You’re cool with change, but know how to create stability for your team in this crazy environment.
- This role requires business fluency in English. You’re able to structure working hours within GMT-5 to GMT +1 and be online daily from 1pm UTC to 6pm UTC.
- Strong interest in Web3. Previous work experience in Web3 or a relevant field (marketplace products, open source) is an advantage.
About Gitcoin
Since 2017, Gitcoin has been building tools that enable communities to fund what matters to them. Through our Gitcoin Grants Program, we've distributed over $50M to early stage builders championing projects across DeFi, Ethereum infrastructure, open source software, and beyond. We’ve taken the success and learnings of the Gitcoin Grants Program and used it to build our open-source, on-chain Grants Stack product that anyone can use to create and manage grants programs in Web3.
Gitcoin Labs is a contributor to the Gitcoin DAO and Ethereum ecosystem. Our charter is to support the growth of Gitcoin through product development and adoption. We’re a leading organization in Web3 that’s trusted by partners across the ecosystem; including Polygon, zkSync, Base, Avalanche, and more.
We welcome all qualified persons to apply regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
