Job Description

Position Purpose:

As a Sr. Data Analyst, you will serve as a lead on data capability projects, collaborating with users across the team and/or leadership, utilizing user testing processes, providing project estimates for prioritization of tasks, balancing workload, and mentoring data analysts on the project team. This role is expected to independently create solutions based on a business problem and present insights, recommendations and project timelines to leaders and business partners and explain the benefits and impacts of the recommended solutions. In addition, you will collaborate with business partners and cross-functional teams, requiring effective communication skills, building relationships and partnerships, and leveraging business proficiency to solutions and recommendations.

This role is also responsible for leading data capability initiatives that drive business profitability, increased efficiencies, and improved customer experience. This position will help enable The HomeDepot.com teams to identify optimization opportunities and make data-driven decisions that drive traffic and conversion. This role will be an integral part of team that is expected to seek out business opportunities to leverage data as a competitive advantage that helps improve overall program performance.

This role will be proficient in SQL, GBQ and Tableau, and will work across multiple marketing, Analytics, MarTech, Business Intelligence and IT teams, which will require critical planning, and execution in a fast-paced environment. This individual must possess a strong understanding of the marketing landscape for maximizing the organic discoverability within search engines such as Google, YouTube, Pinterest and other Earned Media.

As a Sr. Search Analyst you will:

  • Leverage large-scale data to build dashboards and other capabilities to create efficiencies in reporting, research, and analysis, drive stronger insights and drive increased SEO traffic
  • Evangelize KPIs and data sources to build enhanced views and capabilities
  • Analyze KPIs and measure performance of projects and/or SEO initiatives
  • Automate data feeds via Google BigQuery and Tableau
  • Monitor performance for SEO best practices in alignment with enterprise reporting principals and homedepot.com systems
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and lead initiatives leveraging data to support process improvements and enhanced reporting and research opportunities
  • Leverage APIs to push and pull data from various third party sources
  • Research and develop strategies to capture meaningful data that are continuously enhanced
  • Research, develop and help drive large-scale solutions to broaden organic performance
  • Own daily monitoring of assigned projects, weekly/monthly roadmap, and delivery of ad-hoc reporting
  • Evangelizing SEO across multiple departments, business groups and corporate levels
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders from Merchandising, Product Management, IT, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Earned Media, and others to ideate and execute SEO strategy
  • Train/develop analysts to support the growth of the team
  • Delegate/guide work to analysts where needed
    Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

    35% Solution Development - Understand the customer base and search engine landscape to effectively seek out opportunities for efficiencies; Deeply understand business problem(s) to proficiently design and develop solutions using large datasets; Execute tasks with high levels of efficiency and quality; Make appropriate selection, utilization and interpretation of advanced analytical methodologies; Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical leaders and business customers/partners; Prepare reports, updates and/or presentations related to progress made on a project or solution; Clearly communicate impacts of recommendations to drive alignment and appropriate implementation

    30% Project Management & Team Support - Work with project teams and business partners, including discovery and initial assessments, determining project goals, project planning and ongoing measurement; Provide direction on prioritization of work and ensure quality of work; Provide mentoring and coaching to more junior roles to support their technical competencies; Collaborate with managers and team in the distribution of workload and resources

    20% Business Collaboration - Leverage extensive business knowledge into solution approach; Effectively develop trust and collaboration with internal customers and cross-functional teams; Provide general education on advanced analytics to technical and non-technical business partners; Deep understanding of IT needs for the team to be successful in tackling business problems; Actively seek out new business opportunities to leverage data as a competitive advantage

    15% Technical Exploration & Development - Seek further knowledge on key developments within data capabilities, technical skill sets, and additional data sources; Participate in the continuous improvement of data capabilities and analytics by developing replicable solutions to ensure solutions are leveraged for future projects; Define best practices and develop clear vision for data analysis

    Position reports to Search Account Manager.

    ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Environment:
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    Travel:
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
    Education Required:

    The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.



    Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 years



    Physical Requirements:

    Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • At least 3 years' experience in search engine marketing including on page, off page, social and local SEO strategies
  • Experience using SEO and business related tools including: Omniture/Adobe SiteCatalyst, Search Center, Google/Bing Webmaster tools, Google Adwords, SEOmoz, Advanced Web Ranking suite, SEOclarity and keyword research tools
  • A core understanding of HTML/CSS
  • Project management experience associated with interactive marketing and/or web projects
  • Meticulous and strict understanding of SEO white hat tactics
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in managing both paid and organic search
  • Marketing/web experience associated with a national-level retailer
  • E-commerce knowledge and experience
  • Prior analytics and data analysis exposure
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Solid understanding of the technical pieces of marketing channels such as backend tracking, search string URLs, 3rd party site tracking, data feeds and internal search
  • Knowledge of Adobe technologies
  • Intermediate/Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Excel required
  • A steadfast passion for SEO and internet marketing
  • Proven SEO Experience and understanding
  • In depth knowledge of current and developing SEO trends
