Senior SEO Manager
American Public Education, Inc.
The Senior SEO Manager will work to accelerate organic search performance across all search engines. This position will work with the Marketing & Online Presence team to identify and address technical improvements to websites, perform keyword and competitive research to inform our content strategy and implement all onsite SEO efforts across APEI portfolio brands. This person should be an experienced SEO who is on top of the trends, technologies, and strategies that are effective in improving organic search performance.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with customers to gain an understanding of their business and technical requirements
- Conduct SEO audits as needed, including measuring keyword positions, search volume and overall site visibility and ranking using defined SEO tools.
- Develop on-page and off-page recommendations across multiple lines of businesses including metadata, link-building, site speed optimization, content strategy, information architecture, and more.
- Effectively balance the SEO to align brand and business strategies with performance and optimization goals.
- Manage internal teams to set priorities and drive on-site optimization and performance.
- Oversight and management of all SEO resources as applicable to technical/site architecture attributes, content optimization, link acquisition/management and mobile presence.
- Mentor other marketing professionals
- Remains up-to-date on emerging SEO trends and technologies, and help identify new and innovative ways to promote the university and other APEI clients
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ practical experience in global SEO environment
- 2+ years’ managerial experience
- Local SEO experience is a must
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Use Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEM Rush, Local Viking, Google Analytics, PageSpeedInsights, Screaming Frog, and other SEO tools to ID trends, track performance, share wins, perform case studies, and find ways to iterate on successes
- Stay abreast of changes in the online SEO environment to serve the objectives of the organization best and adjusts plans accordingly
- Highly skilled in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate resourcefulness, motivation, and initiative

The Director of SEO will be responsible for developing and implementing SEO strategies, reviewing various, relevant data points such as website traffic, rankings and using tools such as SemRush to look for new opportunities. We seek a talented and collaborative Senior SEO Strategist to join our SEO team, with 5+ years of industry experience who is equally comfortable taking on creating SEO strategy as you are communicating the big picture impact to clients. The Opportunity...
We are looking for a passionate SEO expert to join our growing organic search team. The ideal candidate will be innovative and can use an equal mix of analysis, strategy and collaboration to improve SEO efforts at scale. As a critical member of the team, you will play a key role in accelerating organic growth through optimization of Centerfield’s owned and operated domains.
How You'll Contribute...
- Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to improve the organic presence of our Business vertical.
- Lead the strategic direction of SEO by building and evolving a roadmap which includes content strategy, development, implementation, site updates, experiments and technical initiatives.
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis to identify new opportunities to unlock organic search growth and drive broader search strategy.
- Perform organic traffic opportunity sizing analyses and topical authority analyses to identify untapped topics.
- Collaborate closely with product and content teams to implement site recommendations that drive results.
- Analyze and articulate complex SEO issues and needs to cross functional teams.
- Identify KPIs to track in order to evaluate the impact of organic growth activities, generate regular reports to communicate progress and present insights to stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of industry changes to ensure ongoing competitiveness in the space
What We're Looking For...
- You have 5+ years SEO experience at B2C web-based products or websites, like ecommerce, marketplace/aggregator sites or publishers
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JS, schema.org and other coding languages as they relate to SEO
- You are proficient in using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs
- You are a strong collaborator, capable of working with multiple stakeholders across teams to educate, influence, and execute
- You enjoy the continual challenge of problem solving, innovating and measuring the impact of your projects and initiatives
- You have a scrappy, figure it out, can do attitude and work ethic
